What is Mukhyamantri Ekalnari Samman Pension Yojana?

Mukhyamantri Ekalnari Samman Pension Yojana is a Rajasthan social security pension for single women, run by the Social Justice and Empowerment Department and paid through the Rajasthan Social Security Pension portal at ssp.rajasthan.gov.in. The scheme is often searched as Ekal Nari Pension or Rajasthan Vidhwa Pension, though it is wider than a widow pension, divorced and abandoned women are covered too.

The Government of Rajasthan started the scheme in 2013 to give a monthly cash floor to women who have no earning partner and no regular income of their own. It is one of four pension streams on the RajSSP portal, alongside the old age (Vraddhajan) pension, the disability (Vishesh Yogyajan) pension and the farmer old age (Krishak Vraddhajan) pension. Together these streams cover more than nine crore cumulative pensioner records on the portal.

The pension rate is not fixed permanently. It has been raised in steps: from Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,150, then to Rs 1,250, then to Rs 1,300 a month with effect from 1 January 2026, disbursed from February 2026. The Rajasthan Budget 2026-27 announced a further rise to Rs 1,450 a month, covering more than 91 lakh beneficiaries across all pension categories. These increases are issued by the Social Justice and Empowerment Department in line with the Rajasthan Minimum Income Guarantee Act, 2023, which gives statutory backing to the pension and to its periodic escalation.

Main features

  • Monthly pension paid by DBT into the beneficiary's own Aadhaar-seeded account.
  • Open from age 18, there is no minimum age of 55 or 60 as in old age pension.
  • Annual income from all sources must be below Rs 48,000.
  • Covers widowed, divorced, abandoned and deserted women.
  • Statutory backing under the Rajasthan Minimum Income Guarantee Act, 2023.
  • Annual verification required to keep the pension running.

Who is eligible for the Ekalnari Samman Pension?

You can claim the pension if:

  • You are a woman aged 18 years or above.
  • You are a permanent resident of Rajasthan.
  • You are widowed, divorced, abandoned or deserted, and can document that status with a death certificate, a divorce decree or a declaration from the competent authority.
  • Your annual income from all sources is below Rs 48,000.
  • You have a Jan Aadhaar record and a bank account in your own name that is seeded with your Aadhaar number.

You are not eligible if:

  • You are already drawing another social security pension from the state. The old age, disability or farmer old age pension. A person may draw only one state social security pension at a time.
  • Your annual income is Rs 48,000 or more.
  • You are a government employee or a government pensioner, or the dependant of one drawing a service pension.
  • You are not a permanent resident of Rajasthan.
  • You have remarried. Remarriage ends eligibility from the date of the marriage and must be reported.
  • You are an income tax payer.

The scheme does not require the applicant to be formally certified as Below Poverty Line, but the Rs 48,000 income ceiling in practice restricts it to very low-income households.

How much is paid and when?

The pension is credited monthly by Direct Benefit Transfer. The applicable rate at the time of writing is Rs 1,300 a month, effective from 1 January 2026 and first disbursed in February 2026, having risen from Rs 1,250. The Rajasthan Budget 2026-27 announced Rs 1,450 a month; check the current rate on ssp.rajasthan.gov.in before relying on a figure, since rate revisions are notified during the year and apply from a stated effective date rather than from the announcement date.

Payment goes only to an account in the pensioner's own name. Joint accounts and accounts belonging to a son, daughter or relative are not accepted, and a sanctioned pension will sit undelivered if the account is not Aadhaar-seeded.

How to apply for the Ekalnari Samman Pension

  1. Collect the documents first: Jan Aadhaar, Aadhaar, the death certificate or divorce decree, income certificate, domicile proof and a bank passbook in your own name.
  2. Go to an e-Mitra kiosk or log in to sso.rajasthan.gov.in and open the RajSSP application. E-Mitra is the route most applicants use, because the operator can also do the biometric authentication in the same sitting.
  3. Select Mukhyamantri Ekalnari Samman Pension Yojana and enter your Jan Aadhaar number, then choose your own name from the family members listed.
  4. Fill in your category — widow, divorced or abandoned: along with your age, income, address and bank account details, and upload the supporting documents.
  5. Submit the form and collect the printed acknowledgement carrying your application number. Keep it; every status check needs it.
  6. The application goes to the Sub-Divisional Officer or Tehsildar for sanction. Attend in person if you are called for verification.
  7. Once sanctioned you are issued a PPO number. The first credit, including any arrears from the sanction date, arrives in your bank account.

How to check your pension status

  1. Open ssp.rajasthan.gov.in.
  2. Select Pensioner Status / Beneficiary Report.
  3. Enter your application number or, if the pension is already sanctioned, your PPO number, then submit.
  4. The screen shows whether the application is pending, sanctioned or rejected, and for sanctioned pensions it lists the month-wise payment history.

The Jan Soochna Portal at jansoochna.rajasthan.gov.in shows the same information searched by Jan Aadhaar number, which helps when the application number has been lost.

Why does a sanctioned pension stop arriving?

  • Annual verification not done. This is the commonest cause. Verification is done biometrically at an e-Mitra kiosk each year; the pension is suspended until it is completed, then arrears are released.
  • Bank account not Aadhaar-seeded, or seeded to a different account than the one on the pension record.
  • Account dormant or closed. A KYC-lapsed account rejects the DBT credit.
  • Name mismatch between Aadhaar, the Jan Aadhaar record and the bank record.
  • Duplicate pension detected, the same person drawing under two pension streams, which triggers suspension pending verification.
  • Change in status reported or detected, such as remarriage.

Fix the first three at the bank branch and the e-Mitra kiosk; take the rest to the Tehsil or SDO office that sanctioned the pension.

Why do applications get rejected?

  • Income certificate showing Rs 48,000 or more, or an income in the Jan Aadhaar record that does not match the certificate.
  • No documentary proof of single status. A widow without a registered death certificate, or an abandoned woman without a declaration from the competent authority.
  • Applicant not listed in a Rajasthan Jan Aadhaar family record.
  • Bank account in a relative's name rather than the applicant's own.
  • Applicant already drawing another state social security pension.

Where to complain if something goes wrong

  • RajSSP helpline: 0141-5111007, 0141-5111010 or 0141-2740637, and email ssp-rj@nic.in, for pension sanction and payment problems.
  • Rajasthan Sampark on 181 or sampark.rajasthan.gov.in, for a formal written grievance with a trackable number.
  • Jan Soochna Portal on 1800-180-6127, to see what the state's records hold against your Jan Aadhaar number.
  • Sub-Divisional Officer or Tehsildar of your area, who is the sanctioning authority for a rejected or long-pending application.

Applying is free apart from the small government-notified e-Mitra service charge. No agent can get a pension sanctioned for a fee, and no official will ask you for an OTP or a bank password.

Frequently asked questions

How much is the Ekalnari Samman Pension per month?

The social security pension rate was raised to Rs 1,300 a month with effect from 1 January 2026, up from Rs 1,250. The Rajasthan Budget 2026-27 announced a further increase to Rs 1,450 a month for more than 91 lakh pensioners across all social security pension categories.

What is the income limit for Ekalnari Samman Pension?

Annual income from all sources must be below Rs 48,000. This is verified against the income certificate and the income recorded in the family's Jan Aadhaar record, so the two should match.

From what age can a single woman claim this pension?

From 18 years of age. Unlike the old age pension, Mukhyamantri Ekalnari Samman Pension Yojana has no requirement to reach 55 or 60 — a widowed, divorced or abandoned woman of 18 or above who meets the income test can apply.

Can a divorced woman get this pension, or is it only for widows?

A divorced woman can claim it. The scheme covers widowed, divorced and abandoned or deserted women — all of them are treated as "ekal nari", single women, for this purpose.

Is Aadhaar seeding of the bank account compulsory?

Yes. The pension is paid by Direct Benefit Transfer into the applicant's own Aadhaar-seeded account. An account that is not seeded, or one held jointly with someone else, is the single most common reason a sanctioned pension never arrives.

Do I have to re-apply every year?

No, but you must complete the annual verification, usually done biometrically at an e-Mitra kiosk. Pensions are suspended when the yearly verification is not done, and the arrears are released once verification is completed.

How do I check whether my pension has been sanctioned?

Use the Pensioner Status option on ssp.rajasthan.gov.in with your application number or PPO number. The Jan Soochna Portal also shows social security pension status against a Jan Aadhaar number.

What happens to the pension if a widow remarries?

The pension stops. Remarriage ends the applicant's status as a single woman and must be reported; continuing to draw the pension after remarriage leads to recovery of the amount paid.
