Vishesh Yogyajan Sukhad Dampatya Jeevan Yojana
Rajasthan state government scheme
Vishesh Yogyajan Sukhad Dampatya Jeevan Yojana is a Rajasthan Social Justice and Empowerment Department scheme that pays a one-time marriage grant of Rs 50,000 to a couple where a spouse has 40 per cent or more disability, rising to Rs 5 lakh where the disability is 80 per cent or more. Apply on the SSO portal or at an e-Mitra centre.
What is Vishesh Yogyajan Sukhad Dampatya Jeevan Yojana?
Vishesh Yogyajan Sukhad Dampatya Jeevan Yojana is a one-time marriage grant paid by the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Government of Rajasthan, through its Directorate of Specially Abled Persons (DSAP), to a married couple in which a spouse is a person with a disability. The scheme has been in operation since 1997.
The scheme's purpose is practical rather than symbolic. A person with a disability who marries typically faces higher set-up costs. An accessible home, assistive equipment, a modified livelihood; at exactly the point when household income is lowest. Sukhad Dampatya Jeevan Yojana puts a lump sum into the couple's hands at the start of married life.
Benefit structure
| Degree of disability | One-time grant |
|---|---|
| 40 per cent or more | Rs 50,000 |
| 80 per cent or more | Rs 5,00,000 |
A note on a common misreading: the scheme is sometimes searched as a Health Department "family planning" incentive because of the words sukhad dampatya jeevan (happy married life). That is wrong. Sukhad Dampatya Jeevan Yojana is a disability welfare grant administered by the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, and it carries no sterilisation, contraception or child-spacing condition of any kind.
Who is eligible for Sukhad Dampatya Jeevan Yojana?
You can claim the grant if:
- You are a permanent resident of Rajasthan with a mool niwas certificate.
- One or both spouses hold a disability certificate showing 40 per cent or more disability, issued by a competent medical officer or medical board.
- The couple is legally married, with a registered marriage certificate.
- Both spouses were of legal marriageable age on the date of marriage.
- Annual family income is within the ceiling notified for the scheme.
- Neither spouse has already received a comparable marriage grant under another state or central scheme.
You cannot apply if:
- Neither spouse has 40 per cent disability, or the certificate was issued by someone other than a competent medical authority.
- The marriage is not registered. An unregistered ceremony, however genuine, cannot be verified and the file cannot be sanctioned.
- Either applicant is a serving government employee, state or central.
- The couple has already drawn a similar grant, for example, another marriage-assistance scheme โ for the same marriage.
- Family income exceeds the notified ceiling.
- The application window from the date of marriage has lapsed. This is a hard limitation and cannot be condoned by the district office.
- You are not a resident of Rajasthan, even if the marriage took place in the state.
The grant is payable once per couple. A couple where both spouses have a qualifying disability does not receive two grants.
What documents are required?
| Document | Mandatory | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Jan Aadhaar card | Yes | The identity the application is filed against |
| Disability certificate | Yes | Must state 40 per cent or more; 80 per cent for the higher slab |
| Registered marriage certificate | Yes | Fixes the date the application window runs from |
| Age or birth proof of both spouses | Yes | Legal marriageable age on the marriage date |
| Income certificate | Yes | Family income within the notified ceiling |
| Mool niwas certificate | Yes | Rajasthan residence |
| Affidavit of no duplicate benefit | Yes | No comparable grant drawn elsewhere |
| Bank passbook | Yes | Aadhaar-seeded account for the DBT credit |
| Photograph and mobile number | Yes | Couple's photograph and OTP-capable number |
Two documents cause almost all delays: a disability certificate that does not state a numerical percentage, and a marriage certificate that is not registered with the registrar of marriages. Fix both before you begin the application.
How to apply for Sukhad Dampatya Jeevan Yojana
- Register or sign in on the Rajasthan SSO portal at sso.rajasthan.gov.in. New users can register with Jan Aadhaar, Bhamashah, Google or Aadhaar. One SSO ID per person is enough.
- Open the SJMS DSAP application from the Citizen Apps list on your SSO dashboard. SJMS is the Social Justice Management System and DSAP is the Directorate of Specially Abled Persons module.
- Select Sukhad Dampatya Jeevan Yojana from the scheme list inside SJMS DSAP.
- Enter your Jan Aadhaar number and verify the OTP sent to the mobile number registered against it. The family details load automatically from Jan Aadhaar.
- Fill the application with the disability details, marriage details, income details and bank account, then upload the documents listed above as legible scans.
- Submit and save the application number shown on the acknowledgement. An SMS confirmation is sent to the registered mobile number.
- Track the application on the same SJMS DSAP screen. The district social justice office verifies the certificates and the sanctioned amount is credited by DBT.
How to apply offline through an e-Mitra centre
- Visit your nearest e-Mitra centre with originals and photocopies of the disability certificate, marriage certificate, income certificate, mool niwas, Jan Aadhaar, Aadhaar and bank passbook.
- Ask the operator to file the Sukhad Dampatya Jeevan Yojana application under SJMS DSAP. The operator files the same online form on your behalf.
- Verify the OTP sent to your own registered mobile number: do not share the OTP with anyone other than to have the operator complete the submission in front of you.
- Collect the printed acknowledgement with the application number and pay only the government-notified e-Mitra service charge.
How is the application processed and paid?
The application goes from the SJMS DSAP portal to the district office of the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, where officials verify the disability certificate against the issuing medical authority, confirm the marriage registration, and check the income and residence certificates. On sanction, the grant is credited by Direct Benefit Transfer to the bank account entered in the form.
No part of the grant is paid in cash and nothing is routed through an intermediary. If anyone offers to "get the file passed" for a share of the grant, that is a fraud and should be reported to the district social justice officer.
Why applications get rejected
- Disability below 40 per cent, or a certificate without a stated percentage.
- Marriage not registered, or the marriage certificate date not matching the Jan Aadhaar record.
- Application filed after the window from the date of marriage lapsed.
- Income certificate above the notified ceiling.
- Applicant is a government employee.
- Duplicate benefit already drawn for the same marriage.
- Bank account not Aadhaar-seeded or held in a third person's name, so the DBT credit fails after sanction.
- Illegible uploads, which are returned as a query rather than an outright rejection; respond to the query rather than filing a fresh application.

Frequently asked questions
How much money does Sukhad Dampatya Jeevan Yojana give?
The scheme gives a one-time grant of Rs 50,000 to a couple where the disability is 40 per cent or more, and Rs 5 lakh where the disability is 80 per cent or more. The grant is paid once, directly into the bank account by DBT, and is not a recurring allowance.
Is Sukhad Dampatya Jeevan Yojana a family planning scheme?
No. Vishesh Yogyajan Sukhad Dampatya Jeevan Yojana is a disability welfare scheme of the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, not a Health Department family planning incentive. It supports married life for persons with disabilities and has no sterilisation or birth-spacing condition.
Who runs the Sukhad Dampatya Jeevan Yojana?
The Social Justice and Empowerment Department of Rajasthan runs it, through the Directorate of Specially Abled Persons. Applications are processed in the SJMS DSAP module on the Rajasthan SSO portal.
What percentage of disability is required?
A minimum of 40 per cent disability in one or both spouses is required, as certified by a competent medical officer or medical board. The higher Rs 5 lakh slab requires 80 per cent or more disability.
Can both spouses be persons with disabilities?
Yes. The scheme covers a couple where either one spouse or both spouses have the qualifying disability. The grant is paid once per couple, not once per disabled spouse.
How soon after marriage should the application be filed?
File as soon as the registered marriage certificate is issued. The scheme fixes a time window running from the date of marriage, and applications filed after that window lapses are rejected on limitation, so confirm the current window on the SJMS DSAP application screen before filing.
Can a government employee claim this grant?
No. Applicants employed with the state or central government are excluded, and so is any couple that has already drawn a comparable marriage grant under another scheme.
How is the grant paid?
The sanctioned grant is credited by Direct Benefit Transfer to the bank account entered in the application, after the district social justice office verifies the disability certificate, marriage certificate and income certificate. No cash is paid at any office.
