What is the Rajasthan Social Security Pension Scheme?

Rajasthan Social Security Pension Scheme is the umbrella name for the monthly pensions run by the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Government of Rajasthan, on the state's rajSSP platform at ssp.rajasthan.gov.in. The department states that the pensions give effect to Article 41 of the Constitution, which directs the state to provide public assistance in old age, sickness and disablement.

According to the rajSSP portal, roughly 90 lakh pensioners are on the rolls across the four component schemes. This is one of the largest state pension systems in India, and Rajasthan funds it partly from its own budget and partly from the central National Social Assistance Programme.

The four component pensions

Pension Who it is for
Mukhyamantri Vridhjan Samman Pension Yojana Older men and women
Mukhyamantri Ekal Nari Samman Pension Yojana Widowed, divorced and deserted women
Mukhyamantri Vishesh Yogyajan Samman Pension Yojana Persons with disabilities
Krishak Vridhjan Samman Pension Yojana Older small and marginal farmers

All four are applied for on the same portal, verified by the same revenue officials and paid through the same Direct Benefit Transfer pipeline. A person can hold only one of them at a time.

How much is the Rajasthan pension per month?

Rajasthan has raised the minimum social security pension in steps over recent years. The state moved from Rs 1,000 in 2024 to Rs 1,150, then Rs 1,250 announced in the 2025-26 budget, then Rs 1,300, and the 2026-27 budget announcement raised the minimum to Rs 1,450 a month for a reported beneficiary base of over 91 lakh people.

Two qualifications matter for a reader working out what they will actually receive:

  • The Rs 1,450 figure is the minimum. Older beneficiaries, generally those aged 75 years and above, have historically drawn a higher slab, and that slab structure continues.
  • The rate credited to an individual account is authoritative, not the budget headline. Check the pensioner detail screen on ssp.rajasthan.gov.in or the beneficiary listing on the Jan Soochna Portal for your own PPO.

Payment is made monthly by DBT into the pensioner's Aadhaar-seeded bank account. There is no cash disbursement and no payment through a middleman.

Who is eligible for the Rajasthan Social Security Pension?

You can apply if you are a permanent resident of Rajasthan and fall in one of these groups:

  • Old-age pension. An older man or woman whose annual family income is below the ceiling notified by the department. Age qualification is lower for women than for men, and the exact age and income figures are stated on the application screen at the time of filing.
  • Single-woman pension (Ekal Nari), a woman who is widowed, divorced or deserted, supported by a death certificate, a decree of divorce or documentary proof of desertion.
  • Disability pension (Vishesh Yogyajan). A person holding a disability certificate of the prescribed degree issued by a competent medical board, along with the specified categories such as persons with total blindness, leprosy-cured persons and persons of short stature recognised under the scheme.
  • Farmer old-age pension (Krishak Vridhjan), an older small or marginal farmer, established through land records.

You cannot apply, or your pension will be stopped, if:

  • You are not a permanent resident of Rajasthan.
  • Your annual family income exceeds the ceiling notified for the pension you are applying under. Income is checked against the Jan Aadhaar family record, not the individual alone.
  • You are already drawing another social security pension from the state or the centre. Double pensions to one person are de-duplicated and recovered.
  • You are a government pensioner drawing a service pension.
  • You do not have a Jan Aadhaar entry, or your Aadhaar and Jan Aadhaar records do not match. Rajasthan runs the entire pension on Jan Aadhaar identity.
  • You fail the annual physical verification. This is not a rejection of eligibility but it suspends payment until completed.

What documents are required?

Mool niwas certificate Yes Permanent residence in Rajasthan
Income certificate Yes Family income below the notified ceiling

How to apply for the Rajasthan pension

  1. Get your Jan Aadhaar in order first. Confirm that you are listed in your family's Jan Aadhaar at janaadhaar.rajasthan.gov.in, that your name and age match Aadhaar, and that your own bank account is linked. Most pension rejections trace back to this step.
  2. Collect the documents listed above, including the certificate specific to your category — disability, widowhood or land records.
  3. Choose your filing route. Either visit any e-Mitra centre with the documents, or sign in yourself at sso.rajasthan.gov.in and open the SSP or Rajasthan Social Pension service from the Citizen Apps list.
  4. Fill the application form, selecting the correct pension among the four, entering the Jan Aadhaar number, and verifying the OTP sent to the registered mobile number.
  5. Upload or hand over the documents and submit. Collect the acknowledgement and note the application number.
  6. Wait for verification. The application is examined by the sub-divisional officer, tehsildar or the officer notified for your area, who may call you for confirmation.
  7. Note your PPO number once sanction is issued. The Pension Payment Order number is what you will use for every future status check, and the first credit follows sanction.

How to check pension status and payment

  1. Open ssp.rajasthan.gov.in and use the pensioner status or report option with your PPO number.
  2. Alternatively use the Jan Soochna Portal at jansoochna.rajasthan.gov.in, which publishes social security pension beneficiary and payment details for any citizen to look up without a login.
  3. Install the Rajasthan Social Pension mobile app from the Play Store, which shows status and supports verification.
  4. If a monthly credit is missing, check the bank passbook first. A DBT credit sometimes lands later in the month than expected, and only then raise a grievance.

How the annual verification works

Rajasthan requires every pensioner to undergo physical verification once a year. Payment is suspended automatically when verification lapses, and it is by far the biggest reason a pension "stops" without any change in eligibility.

Verification can be completed by:

  • Biometric fingerprint or iris scan at any e-Mitra centre.
  • OTP-based verification on the registered mobile number, where the department allows it.
  • Doorstep verification during the department's verification drives, which panchayat and ward staff conduct for pensioners who cannot travel.

Once verification succeeds, suspended months are generally released as arrears along with the next regular credit.

Why Rajasthan pension payments fail or stop

  • Annual verification pending. The leading cause.
  • Bank account dormant, closed or not Aadhaar-seeded, so the DBT credit bounces back.
  • Name or age mismatch between Aadhaar, Jan Aadhaar and the bank record.
  • Income recorded above the ceiling in the Jan Aadhaar family record.
  • Duplicate pension detected for the same person across schemes.
  • Beneficiary reported deceased or migrated during field verification.

Corrections to name, age, bank account or mobile number are made through the Jan Aadhaar enrolment update at an e-Mitra centre; the pension record then picks up the corrected data.

Grievance redressal and contacts

  • rajSSP helpdesk: 0141-5111007, 0141-5111010, 0141-2740637
  • Email: ssp-rj[at]nic[dot]in
  • Portal: ssp.rajasthan.gov.in
  • Jan Soochna Portal helpline: 18001806127
  • Local escalation: the tehsildar, sub-divisional officer or the district Social Justice and Empowerment office, which are the sanctioning and verification authorities

Sanction of a Rajasthan social security pension is free. No agent can arrange a pension for a fee, and an e-Mitra centre may charge only the notified service charge for filing the form.

Frequently asked questions

How much pension does the Rajasthan Social Security Pension Scheme pay?

The minimum monthly pension was raised to Rs 1,450 following the 2026-27 state budget announcement, up from Rs 1,000 in 2024 through successive revisions of Rs 1,150, Rs 1,250 and Rs 1,300. Beneficiaries above 75 years draw a higher slab, so confirm the rate credited in your case on ssp.rajasthan.gov.in.

Which pensions come under the Rajasthan social security umbrella?

Four schemes run on the same rajSSP platform — the old-age pension (Vridhjan), the single-woman pension (Ekal Nari, for widowed, divorced and deserted women), the disability pension (Vishesh Yogyajan) and the farmer old-age pension (Krishak Vridhjan). A person can draw only one of them.

How do I apply for a Rajasthan pension?

Apply free at any e-Mitra centre, or online yourself through your SSO ID at sso.rajasthan.gov.in using your Jan Aadhaar number. The application is verified by the sub-divisional officer or tehsildar before sanction; no paper file needs to be carried to the district headquarters.

Why has my Rajasthan pension stopped?

The most common reason is that the annual physical verification was not completed. Rajasthan requires every pensioner to verify once a year by biometric fingerprint, iris or OTP, and payment is suspended until this is done. Other causes are a dormant or non-Aadhaar-seeded bank account and a Jan Aadhaar mismatch.

How do I complete the annual pension verification?

Complete the annual verification at any e-Mitra centre by fingerprint or iris scan, or through the Rajasthan Social Pension mobile app. Elderly pensioners who cannot reach a centre can ask the panchayat or ward-level staff for doorstep verification during the verification drive.

Can I check my pension status online?

Yes. Use the pensioner status option on ssp.rajasthan.gov.in with your Pension Payment Order (PPO) number, or look up beneficiary details on the Jan Soochna Portal at jansoochna.rajasthan.gov.in, which publishes pension beneficiary and payment information openly.

Can two people in one household both draw a pension?

Yes, if each qualifies on their own — for example, an elderly husband and an elderly wife can each hold a separate old-age pension. What is not allowed is one person drawing two social security pensions at the same time.

Is there any fee to apply for the Rajasthan pension?

No. Sanction of the pension is free. An e-Mitra centre may charge only the small government-notified service charge for filing the online form, and no agent can charge for "getting the pension sanctioned".
