Gramin Parivar Aajeevika Rin Yojana (Rajasthan Rural Family Livelihood Loan Scheme)
Rajasthan state government scheme
Gramin Parivar Aajeevika Rin Yojana gives rural families in Rajasthan interest-free loans of Rs 25,000 to Rs 2 lakh for non-farm livelihood work, routed through cooperative, commercial, regional rural and small finance banks. Rajasthan allocated Rs 2,000 crore for 1 lakh families, with banks deciding applications within 15 days.
What is Gramin Parivar Aajeevika Rin Yojana?
Gramin Parivar Aajeevika Rin Yojana is an interest-free credit scheme of the Cooperative Department, Government of Rajasthan, for rural families pursuing non-agricultural livelihoods. The scheme was approved on 10 October 2022 and gives a rural family a loan of Rs 25,000 to Rs 2,00,000 on which the borrower pays no interest, because the state government meets the interest cost.
The reasoning behind Gramin Parivar Aajeevika Rin Yojana is a gap in rural credit. Rajasthan's cooperative system had for years delivered subsidised crop loans to farmers, but a landless labourer, a village artisan, a tenant farmer or a woman running a small enterprise had no comparable window. Those households were left borrowing informally at rates that ate the enterprise. Gramin Parivar Aajeevika Rin Yojana was created to give that group formal, interest-free working capital.
Locally the scheme is known as the gramin parivar aajeevika rin yojana or simply the rural livelihood loan, and it is sometimes searched for with the "sahkari" prefix because the Cooperative Department administers it.
Main features
- Interest-free to the borrower, the state bears the interest.
- Loan size Rs 25,000 to Rs 2,00,000.
- Purpose is non-agricultural livelihood activity in rural areas.
- Launch-year lending pool of Rs 2,000 crore with a Rs 100 crore state subsidy for interest, targeting 1 lakh rural families.
- Delivered through commercial banks, regional rural banks, cooperative banks and small finance banks.
- Banks must decide within 15 days of receiving an application.
- One-year tenure, renewable annually on clearing the outstanding balance.
Who is eligible for the rural family livelihood loan?
You can apply if:
- Your family has been residing in a rural area of Rajasthan for at least 5 years. This residence condition is the scheme's central filter.
- You fall in one of the target groups: small and marginal farmers, landless labourers, tenant farmers, rural artisans, other non-agricultural rural workers, or a self-help group member.
- You intend to use the money for a non-agricultural income-generating activity, a village shop, a service trade, an artisan craft, small-scale processing, transport or a similar enterprise.
- You hold a Jan Aadhaar card and a bank account.
You cannot apply if:
- You live in an urban area of Rajasthan, or have not completed 5 years of rural residence in the state.
- You want the loan for agricultural cultivation. Crop finance runs through the cooperative crop loan route, and long-term farm assets through Sahkar Kisan Kalyan Yojana; this scheme is expressly for non-farm work.
- You are asking for more than Rs 2 lakh, which is the ceiling per borrower.
- You are an eleventh or later member of the same self-help group applying under the SHG route, since coverage is capped at 10 members per group.
- You have an unsettled outstanding balance from a previous year's facility, which blocks renewal until cleared.
How much can a family get, and on what terms?
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Minimum loan | Rs 25,000 |
| Maximum loan | Rs 2,00,000 |
| Interest to the borrower | Nil: state bears the interest |
| Tenure | 1 year, renewable annually on clearing the balance |
| Decision timeline | 15 days from receipt of application by the bank |
| Purpose | Non-agricultural livelihood activity only |
The annual renewal design is worth understanding before you borrow. This is not a five-year term loan. You take the facility, you run the enterprise, and you clear the outstanding within the year to keep the window open for the next cycle. A family that treats it as long-term money and does not clear the balance loses both the renewal and the interest benefit.
Which bank will give me the loan?
All four categories participate, and the launch-year target for 1 lakh families was distributed across them:
| Bank type | Families allocated in the launch year |
|---|---|
| Commercial banks | 55,158 |
| Regional rural banks | 36,741 |
| Cooperative banks | 5,949 |
| Small finance banks | 2,152 |
In practice, the gram sewa sahkari samiti in your panchayat is the easiest first door, because it is closest and it routes cases into the cooperative channel. Rajasthan has over 5,000 gram sewa cooperative societies linked into the state's rural lending schemes. If your local society is not handling the scheme in the current cycle, the commercial bank branch serving your block is the next stop — it carries the largest share of the target.

How to apply for Gramin Parivar Aajeevika Rin Yojana
- Get your rural residence certificate from the gram panchayat first, showing at least 5 years of residence. Applications stall here more often than anywhere else, so start with this document rather than leaving it for last.
- Decide and write down the livelihood activity you want to finance, with a rough cost estimate. A one-page plan naming the trade, the equipment or stock to be bought and the expected monthly earning is enough, the bank needs to see what the money does.
- Visit your gram sewa sahkari samiti, cooperative bank branch, or the participating commercial, regional rural or small finance bank branch in your block, and ask for the Gramin Parivar Aajeevika Rin Yojana application form.
- Submit the form with Jan Aadhaar, Aadhaar, the residence certificate, bank passbook and the activity details. Insist on a dated acknowledgement, the 15-day clock runs from receipt.
- Follow up after 15 days if you have heard nothing. The scheme requires the bank to decide within 15 days of receiving the application.
- On sanction, collect the sanction letter stating the amount, the tenure and the repayment date, and check that no interest is being charged to you.
- Clear the outstanding within the year and apply for renewal to keep the facility running.
How do I check the status of my application?
Ask the branch or the samiti for the application number and the status against it, and cite the 15-day decision requirement. The Cooperative Department's portal at rajsahakar.rajasthan.gov.in carries citizen status pages for its loan schemes, and the Jan Soochna portal at jansoochna.rajasthan.gov.in publishes Cooperative Department scheme information for public verification. For a live case, the branch record is what counts.
Why applications get rejected, and how to fix them
- Residence condition not proved. The 5-year rural residence certificate is the most frequent gap. Get it from the panchayat with the years explicitly stated.
- Activity classed as agricultural. Re-frame the proposal around the non-farm part of the work, or use the correct farm-credit scheme instead.
- Jan Aadhaar and Aadhaar details mismatched, blocking verification. Correct the Jan Aadhaar record before applying.
- Existing overdue balance with the same or another bank.
- No dated acknowledgement taken, so the applicant cannot show when the 15-day period started. Always ask for one.
- Target for the year exhausted at that branch. Ask to be recorded for the next cycle and check the other participating bank categories, which hold separate allocations.

Where a branch sits on an application past 15 days or asks for a payment to process it, complain in writing to the Deputy Registrar, Cooperative Societies for your district, attaching the dated acknowledgement. No fee is payable to any agent for this loan, and the interest cost is borne by the state, not by you.

The scheme gives an interest-free loan ranging from Rs 25,000 up to a maximum of Rs 2,00,000 per borrower for non-agricultural livelihood activity in rural Rajasthan.
Is the loan really interest-free?
Yes. The borrower pays no interest — the Government of Rajasthan bears the interest through a subsidy, with Rs 100 crore earmarked for interest payment against a Rs 2,000 crore lending pool in the launch year.
Who can take this loan?
Rural families that have lived in Rajasthan's rural areas for at least 5 years, specifically small and marginal farmers, landless labourers, tenant farmers, rural artisans, other non-agricultural workers, and members of self-help groups with up to 10 members of one group covered.
Can I use the loan for farming?
No. Gramin Parivar Aajeevika Rin Yojana is written for non-agricultural livelihood activity. Farm credit runs through the separate cooperative crop loan and long-term loan routes.
Which banks give the loan?
Commercial banks, regional rural banks, cooperative banks and small finance banks all participate. In the launch-year allocation for 1 lakh families, commercial banks were assigned 55,158 cases, regional rural banks 36,741, cooperative banks 5,949 and small finance banks 2,152.

Banks are required to decide an application within 15 days of receiving it. If your branch has held the file longer, that is a specific and citable ground for escalation.
What is the repayment period?
The loan carries a one-year tenure, renewable annually on clearing the outstanding balance. Clearing the balance on time is what keeps the facility alive for the next year.
Is there an online application?
No standalone citizen portal application. Apply through your gram sewa sahkari samiti, cooperative bank branch or a participating bank branch in your block; the Cooperative Department portal rajsahakar.rajasthan.gov.in carries scheme information and status pages.
