Uttar Pradesh Krishi Upakaran Subsidy Yojana (Farm Machinery Subsidy)
Uttar Pradesh state government scheme
Uttar Pradesh Krishi Upakaran Subsidy Yojana gives farmers up to 50 percent subsidy on farm machinery, up to 80 percent on a Farm Machinery Bank and up to Rs 5 lakh on a kisan drone. Farmers book online on agridarshan.up.gov.in with a refundable booking amount of Rs 2,500 or Rs 5,000 and are selected by e-lottery.
What is Uttar Pradesh Krishi Upakaran Subsidy Yojana?
Uttar Pradesh Krishi Upakaran Subsidy Yojana is the umbrella name farmers use for the farm machinery subsidy run by the Department of Agriculture, Government of Uttar Pradesh. It is not a single scheme with its own budget line. According to the department's booking guideline published on agriculture.up.gov.in, the subsidy on farm implements, kisan drones, custom hiring centres, hi-tech hubs and farm machinery banks is delivered through five schemes operated together:
- Sub Mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM)
- Promotion of Agricultural Mechanization for In-Situ Management of Crop Residue
- National Food Security Mission (NFSM)
- National Mission on Edible Oils (oilseeds)
- Twarit Makka Vikas Karyakram (accelerated maize development programme)
All of them use the same online booking route, the same refundable booking amount, and the same e-lottery selection. The department's general operating procedure is fixed by Government Order number 63/2024/717/12-2-2024-100(05)/2014 dated 8 July 2024, issued by the Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture Section-2.
Implements covered. Under SMAM the portal lists potato digger, harrow, cultivator, power chaff cutter, straw reaper, rotavator, combine harvester with Super SMS, kisan drone, farm machinery bank, custom hiring centre and hi-tech hub for custom hiring. Under the in-situ crop residue scheme the machines are baler, hay rake, reaper cum binder and super seeder.
Who is eligible for the UP farm machinery subsidy?
You can apply if:
- You are a registered farmer of Uttar Pradesh with a farmer registration number on agriculture.up.gov.in.
- Your Aadhaar-linked mobile number is updated in the farmer registration, so the booking OTP can reach you.
- You are applying with your own mobile number or that of a blood relative: mother, father, brother, sister, son, daughter or daughter-in-law. This is verified at the time of physical verification.
- You are a self-help group linked to the State Rural Livelihoods Mission and the Agriculture Department, or a Farmer Producer Organisation, in which case group eligibility rules apply.
Extra conditions for organisations. An FPO applying to set up a Hi-Tech Hub for Custom Hiring or a Farm Machinery Bank must have been registered under the Companies Act or Societies Act for at least one year before the date of the advertisement, must be registered and active on the department's FPO Shakti portal, and must have a minimum of 100 member shareholders.
You cannot apply, or your claim will be disallowed, if:
- You are not registered as a farmer on the departmental portal. There is no offline route into the booking system.
- Both husband and wife apply. The scheme treats one farmer family as one applicant, so only one of the two can hold a subsidy in a financial year.
- You have already drawn subsidy on two implements in the same financial year under SMAM. Only a tractor-mounted sprayer is allowed beyond that.
- You received subsidy on the same implement within the last five years. The repeat cycle for a Farm Machinery Bank, Custom Hiring Centre and Hi-Tech Hub is ten years.
- You are applying under a reserved component you do not belong to. Subsidy code 83 is open only to Scheduled Caste farmer groups and FPOs, and subsidy code 81 only to Scheduled Tribe farmer groups and FPOs. Subsidy code 11 is open to farmer groups and FPOs of every caste and category.
- You paid the machine's price from someone else's account. At least 50 percent of the price must be paid to the firm from the beneficiary's own account, and only a non-literate farmer without a cheque book may use a blood relative's account.
How much subsidy is available?
| Item | Subsidy ceiling |
|---|---|
| All types of farm implements | Maximum 50 percent of price |
| Custom Hiring Centre (project cost Rs 10 lakh) | Maximum 40 percent |
| Hi-Tech Hub for Custom Hiring (project cost Rs 100 lakh) | Maximum 40 percent |
| Farm Machinery Bank (project cost Rs 10 lakh) | Maximum 80 percent |
| In-situ scheme Custom Hiring Centre (project cost Rs 30 lakh) | Maximum 80 percent |
| Kisan drone and accessories, for agriculture graduates and rural entrepreneurs | 50 percent or Rs 5 lakh, whichever is less |
| Kisan drone and accessories, for an FPO | 40 percent or Rs 4 lakh, whichever is less |
A beneficiary of a Custom Hiring Centre, Hi-Tech Hub or Farm Machinery Bank must sign a bond undertaking to rent the machines out to farmers of the area at rates fixed by the department. The subsidy is not a private purchase grant in those categories.
How to apply for Uttar Pradesh Krishi Upakaran Subsidy Yojana
- Register as a farmer at agriculture.up.gov.in/registration if you have not already. If your mobile number is missing or out of date, update it yourself using the OTP sent to your Aadhaar-registered mobile number.
- Open agridarshan.up.gov.in during the announced window and click the "Yantra Booking Prarambh" (machine booking start) link. For 2026-27 the window ran from 16 July 2026 to 10 August 2026.
- Select your implement. SMAM, NFSM, oilseeds and maize implements are booked block-wise; the in-situ crop residue machines and the Rs 30 lakh Custom Hiring Centre are booked district-wise.
- Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number and deposit the booking amount online, Rs 2,500 where the subsidy is between Rs 10,001 and Rs 1,00,000, Rs 5,000 where the subsidy is above Rs 1,00,000.
- Wait for the e-lottery if applications exceed the target. The Deputy Director of Agriculture announces the venue, date and time through local newspapers, and the draw is held before the District Level Executive Committee chaired by the District Magistrate.
- Once the token is confirmed, buy the implement from a manufacturer registered on upyantratracking.in and upload the purchase receipt, machine photographs and serial number on the portal within 30 days — or 45 days for a Custom Hiring Centre, Hi-Tech Hub or Farm Machinery Bank.
- Wait for physical verification by the department, after which the subsidy is credited by DBT to your bank account.
How to check your booking and subsidy status
- Open agriculture.up.gov.in and use the link "know the booking status of farmers for solar and agricultural implements" (agriculture.up.gov.in/pmkusum/token/FarmerYantraReport.aspx).
- Enter your registration number or booking details to see whether the token is confirmed, waitlisted or refunded.
- Use "Anudan khate mein bhejne ki pragati janein" (progress of subsidy sent to accounts) and "Labhartiyon ki suchi" (beneficiary list) on the same portal to confirm the DBT release.
- If your registration number itself is lost, use "Apna panjikaran number jaane" on the home page.
Why farm machinery subsidy claims fail
- Bill not uploaded within the deadline. The guideline is explicit: if the machine is not bought and the bill not uploaded on the portal within the prescribed period, the application is cancelled automatically and the next applicant on the waiting list is selected in your place.
- Machine bought from an unregistered manufacturer. Only inventory uploaded on upyantratracking.in qualifies.
- Payment made from someone else's account. At least half the price must move from the beneficiary's own account.
- Second claim inside five years on the same implement.
- Both spouses applying, which is treated as one family and disallowed.
- Mobile number not matching the farmer registration or not belonging to a blood relative, caught at verification.
- Not selected in the e-lottery. This is not a rejection. The booking amount is refunded and you can apply again in the next window.
Help, helpline and fraud warning
- Registration and DBT helpline: 7839883124, email dbt.validation@gmail.com.
- Additional Director (Extension), webmaster: 0522-2207784, email dirag@nic.in. The portal is published by the State Agriculture Directorate, Krishi Bhawan, Lucknow under NIC's guidance.
- District Deputy Director of Agriculture for e-lottery, verification and subsidy release disputes.
Two warnings appear on the department's own home page and are worth repeating. First, www.upagriculture.org.in is a fake website. The department has stated plainly that it has no site by that name and has issued no recruitment advertisement there. Second, booking confirmation is entirely online and transparent; the department asks farmers to ignore any phone call offering to confirm a booking and to report such calls to the district Deputy Director of Agriculture.

Frequently asked questions
How much subsidy does Uttar Pradesh give on farm equipment?
Uttar Pradesh gives a maximum of 50 percent subsidy on the price of all types of farm implements. A Custom Hiring Centre with a project cost of Rs 10 lakh and a Hi-Tech Hub for Custom Hiring with a project cost of Rs 100 lakh draw up to 40 percent, while a Farm Machinery Bank of Rs 10 lakh and the in-situ scheme's Custom Hiring Centre of Rs 30 lakh draw up to 80 percent.
How much is the booking money and is it refunded?
The booking amount is Rs 2,500 for implements whose subsidy is between Rs 10,001 and Rs 1,00,000, and Rs 5,000 where the subsidy is above Rs 1,00,000. It is deposited online at the time of application and is refunded in full to farmers who are not selected in the e-lottery or where no target remains.
How are beneficiaries selected if there are more applications than targets?
Selection is done by e-lottery on the departmental portal, in front of the District Level Executive Committee chaired by the District Magistrate. A waiting list of up to 50 percent of the target is also prepared, and the Deputy Director of Agriculture must announce the venue, date and time of the e-lottery through local newspapers.
How many implements can one farmer family get in a year?
One farmer family — either the husband or the wife, not both — can get subsidy on a maximum of two implements in one financial year under the Sub Mission on Agricultural Mechanization. Beyond those two, no further subsidy is allowed except for a tractor-mounted sprayer.
How long do I get to buy the machine after selection?
You get a maximum of 30 days from the date the booking token is confirmed to buy the implement and upload the purchase receipt, machine photograph and serial number on the portal. For a Custom Hiring Centre, Hi-Tech Hub or Farm Machinery Bank the limit is 45 days. Missing the deadline cancels the application automatically and the next person on the waiting list is selected.
Can I buy the machine from any dealer?
No. You may buy from any manufacturer registered on the upyantratracking.in portal, choosing freely from the inventory those manufacturers have uploaded. At least 50 percent of the price must be paid to the firm from the beneficiary's own bank account, or from a blood relative's account if the farmer is not literate and cannot be issued a cheque book.
Who can apply for a kisan drone subsidy in Uttar Pradesh?
Agriculture graduates running an Agri Junction and rural entrepreneurs are eligible for the kisan drone and its accessories, at 50 percent of the price or a maximum of Rs 5 lakh, whichever is less. A Farmer Producer Organisation gets 40 percent or a maximum of Rs 4 lakh.
Is upagriculture.org.in an official website?
No. The Department of Agriculture has publicly warned that www.upagriculture.org.in is a completely fake website and that the department has issued no recruitment advertisement through it. The genuine portals are agriculture.up.gov.in and agridarshan.up.gov.in.
