Delhi Lakshmi Yojana
Delhi state government scheme
Delhi Lakshmi Yojana pays Rs 2,500 a month to the eldest woman in a Delhi family with annual income up to Rs 2,50,000, aged 21 to 60, resident in Delhi for 10 years and a registered Delhi voter. Online registration opened on 1 August 2026 at dly.delhi.gov.in and needs an MP or MLA recommendation letter.
What is the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana?
Delhi Lakshmi Yojana is a monthly cash assistance scheme for women run by the Department of Women and Child Development, Government of NCT of Delhi. The scheme pays Rs 2,500 a month to one eligible woman in a family, and applications are taken only through the dedicated portal at dly.delhi.gov.in, which opened for online registration on 1 August 2026.
Delhi Lakshmi Yojana is the renamed and notified form of the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana that the Delhi Cabinet approved on 8 March 2025. The scheme was renamed in July 2026 and the Department published its final eligibility, exclusion and document rules on 30 July 2026, days before registration opened. Readers searching for Mahila Samriddhi Yojana, Delhi 2500 scheme or Delhi Laxmi Yojana are looking at the same programme.
The Department's own portal describes a seven-stage online application: an eligibility questionnaire, personal and Aadhaar details, family member details, bank account details, document upload, preview, and final submission with an acknowledgement receipt to download.
Who is eligible for the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana?
The Department's published criteria say the applicant must fulfil all of the following:
- Age between 21 and 60 years as on the date of submission of application.
- She is the eldest woman member of the family who is eligible under the scheme.
- She, her husband, or either of her parents has been a resident of Delhi for a minimum period of 10 years as on the date of application.
- She is a registered voter of Delhi.
- Her family unit's annual income does not exceed Rs 2,50,000.
A woman cannot apply if she falls into any of these exclusion categories:
- She is receiving financial assistance in the form of any pension provided by the Central or State Government, is an income tax payee, is a GST filer, has been a Government servant, or holds a public office.
- She has more than three (03) living children.
- Her family's annual electricity consumption exceeds 2,400 units.
- She, or a family member, is employed as a regular or contractual employee in the State Government, Government of India, a Public Sector Undertaking, Board, Local Body or any Government Organization, or is receiving a pension after retirement, or is receiving widow pension, disability pension or any other pension, financial assistance or similar benefit from the Government under any other scheme.
- She, or a family member, is an owner of a four-wheeler motor vehicle.
- She has criminal antecedents or a criminal record.
Two consequences of these rules are worth spelling out. First, a woman already drawing the Delhi widow pension, old age pension or disability pension is not eligible. The scheme is not stackable on top of an existing government pension. Second, because only the eldest eligible woman in the family may apply, a mother and her adult daughter living in the same household cannot both draw Rs 2,500.

Why Delhi Lakshmi Yojana applications get rejected
- Not the eldest eligible woman in the family — another woman in the same household has already applied or qualifies ahead of you.
- Family income above Rs 2,50,000 a year.
- Residence proof does not cover 10 years. A recent electricity bill alone does not establish a decade of residence; use a document that carries an older issue date, or a ration card.
- Name not on the Delhi electoral roll, or on the roll of another state.
- Existing government pension of any kind being drawn by the applicant.
- Government employment by the applicant or a family member, including contractual employment in a PSU, board or local body.
- Four-wheeler ownership in the family.
- More than three living children.
- Electricity consumption above 2,400 units in the year.
- Missing MP or MLA recommendation letter, or a letter from the wrong constituency.
- Mismatch between Aadhaar, voter ID and bank account name.
Most rejections come from the document set rather than the eligibility itself. Check that the spelling of your name is identical across Aadhaar, the Delhi voter ID and the bank passbook before you submit.
