Mukhyamantri Maiya Samman Yojana
Jharkhand state government scheme
Mukhyamantri Maiya Samman Yojana pays Rs 2,500 a month, or Rs 30,000 a year, to women aged 18 to 50 who are residents of Jharkhand and hold a state ration card, transferred by DBT into an Aadhaar-linked bank account. Women apply free at mmmsy.jharkhand.gov.in, at anganwadi centres or at block-level camps.
What is Mukhyamantri Maiya Samman Yojana?
Mukhyamantri Maiya Samman Yojana is a direct cash-transfer scheme of the Government of Jharkhand, run by the Women, Child Development and Social Security Department. Chief Minister Hemant Soren launched the scheme in August 2024, just before Raksha Bandhan, and it has since become the largest welfare programme by beneficiary count in the state. The scheme is also written and searched as Maiyan Samman Yojana and Mukhyamantri Maiyya Samman Yojana; all three names refer to the same programme.
According to the state government portal, Mukhyamantri Maiya Samman Yojana pays Rs 2,500 every month into the bank account of an eligible woman. Payment is made by Direct Benefit Transfer into a single account held in her own name, so the money does not pass through a husband, a panchayat or any intermediary.
The scheme did not start at Rs 2,500. The first instalments, from August 2024, were Rs 1,000 a month. The state raised the amount to Rs 2,500 a month from December 2024, and the first enhanced transfer went out on 28 December 2024, covering more than 56 lakh women and releasing roughly Rs 1,415 crore in one round, according to news reports of the launch event.
Key features
- Rs 2,500 a month, Rs 30,000 a year, paid to the woman individually rather than to the household.
- No repayment, no end use restriction and no requirement to be enrolled in a self-help group.
- Fully state-funded; there is no central share.
- The benefit continues month to month once sanctioned, without re-application, as long as eligibility holds.
Who is eligible for Maiya Samman Yojana?
You can be enrolled if:
- You are a woman resident of Jharkhand.
- Your age is between 18 and 50 years, verified from your Aadhaar card.
- Your name appears in a ration card issued by the Jharkhand government. The scheme uses the state's ration card database to establish household economic status.
- You hold a bank account in your own name, seeded with your Aadhaar number and enabled for DBT.
You are not eligible and cannot apply if:
- Your family pays income tax.
- You are a government employee: regular, contractual, daily-wage or honorarium-based staff of the central government, the state government, a public sector undertaking, a board or a local body.
- You or your husband contribute to the Employees' Provident Fund.
- You draw a pension or a family pension after retirement.
- You already receive a similar monthly cash benefit under another state social security scheme, including the state's own pension schemes. The state's intention is one such benefit per woman, not two stacked together.
- Your family has a sitting or former Member of Parliament or Member of the Legislative Assembly.
A woman who turns 51 during the year, or whose family circumstances change so that an exclusion now applies, is expected to stop drawing the benefit. Instalments drawn after eligibility ends are treated as ineligible payments.

How to apply for Maiya Samman Yojana
- Check your two hard requirements first, that your name is on a Jharkhand ration card, and that you have a bank account in your own name with Aadhaar seeding done. Fixing these later costs weeks.
- Open mmmsy.jharkhand.gov.in and choose the application option, or collect the printed form from your anganwadi centre, panchayat bhavan or block office.
- Fill in your details, name exactly as on Aadhaar, date of birth, Aadhaar number, ration card number, address, bank account number and IFSC code, and mobile number.
- Attach self-attested copies of your Aadhaar card, ration card, bank passbook first page and residence proof, plus a photograph if the form asks for one.
- Submit the form online, or hand it to the anganwadi sevika, panchayat sevak or camp officer offline, and collect the acknowledgement receipt with its application number.
- Wait for block-level verification. The Child Development Project Officer and block officials cross-check age, ration card entry and the exclusion list.
- Track the application number on mmmsy.jharkhand.gov.in until it shows approved, then watch for the first credit in your bank account.
Applications are also collected in special camps organised at panchayat and ward level during enrolment rounds. Camp-based enrolment is the easier route for a woman who has no smartphone or no internet access, and it is free.
How to check Maiya Samman Yojana status and payment
- Open mmmsy.jharkhand.gov.in.
- Select the application status option on the home page.
- Enter your Aadhaar number, application number or registered mobile number and the captcha.
- Read the stage shown โ submitted, under verification, approved or rejected, and the instalment record if you are approved.
You can also confirm a credit directly from your bank passbook, an SMS alert, or by checking the DBT entry at your bank branch or a customer service point.
Why Maiya Samman payments stop or never start
- Bank account not Aadhaar-seeded. The commonest cause. Get seeding done at the branch, not at an agent's shop.
- Account not in the woman's own name. A joint account or a husband's account will fail DBT even if the application was approved.
- Name mismatch between the Aadhaar card, the ration card and the bank record. A middle name present in one and absent in another is enough.
- Name missing from the ration card. Get it added at the block supply office and then update the application.
- Age outside 18 to 50 as read from the Aadhaar date of birth, even if the actual age is within range. Correct the Aadhaar record first.
- An exclusion flag raised in verification, such as a government job, EPF contribution or an income tax return in the family.
- Duplicate application by the same woman, which suspends both entries until one is withdrawn.
- Bank account dormant or KYC-expired, which silently rejects the credit.
Most of these are correctable. Take your passbook and Aadhaar to the anganwadi sevika or the block office, ask for the reason recorded against your application number, and fix that specific field rather than filing a fresh application.

What is the age limit for Maiya Samman Yojana?
Women aged 18 to 50 years are eligible. A woman who has not turned 18, or who has crossed 50, does not qualify under the current guidelines, and the age is verified from the date of birth on the Aadhaar card.
Who is not eligible for Maiya Samman Yojana?
Women from income-tax-paying families, women who are government employees of any kind including contractual and honorarium-based staff, EPF contributors and their spouses, pension and family-pension holders, women already drawing a similar state cash-transfer benefit, and families with a sitting or former MP or MLA are all excluded.
Can the money go into my husband's bank account?
No. Maiya Samman Yojana pays only into a single bank account held in the applicant woman's own name and seeded with her Aadhaar number. A joint account, or an account in a husband's or son's name, is the single most common reason a sanctioned instalment does not arrive.

Yes. The applicant's name must appear in a ration card issued by the Jharkhand food and public distribution department. A woman whose name is missing from the family card should first get it added at the block supply office before applying.
How do I check my Maiya Samman Yojana payment status?
Open mmmsy.jharkhand.gov.in and use the application status option, entering your Aadhaar number, application number or registered mobile number. The page shows the stage of your application and whether the latest instalment has been released.
Is there any fee to apply for Maiya Samman Yojana?
No. Application is completely free, whether done online at mmmsy.jharkhand.gov.in or at an anganwadi centre or block camp. No agent, sahiya or middleman may charge to get a name added, and no official will ever ask for an OTP.
How many women receive Maiya Samman Yojana?
More than 56 lakh women received the transfer in the December 2024 round, when the state released about Rs 1,415 crore in a single disbursement, according to news reports of the Chief Minister's announcement.
