Integrated Hostel Scheme (Ekikrit Chhatravas Yojana), Madhya Pradesh
Madhya Pradesh state government scheme
Integrated Hostel Scheme (Ekikrit Chhatravas Yojana) is a Madhya Pradesh scheme that funds departmental hostels directly and gives free residential facilities to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and OBC students from Class 1 to college. There is no income limit, girls living within 3 km and boys within 8 km of the institution get priority, and applications go through MPTAAS.
What is the Integrated Hostel Scheme in Madhya Pradesh?
Integrated Hostel Scheme, called Ekikrit Chhatravas Yojana in Madhya Pradesh, is the government's consolidated arrangement for running its departmental student hostels. Instead of releasing money for food, fuel, bedding, repairs and consumables through separate sanctions, the scheme fixes a per-hostel norm and transfers the budget straight into each hostel's own bank account, so the superintendent can buy provisions locally without waiting on district sanctions.
For a family, the visible result is simpler than the accounting behind it. A Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe or Other Backward Class student gets a free residential seat in a government hostel near the school or college, with lodging, meals, furniture, bedding, a library and coaching all paid for by the state.
The Madhya Pradesh CM Helpline scheme dashboard records Ekikrit Chhatravas Yojana under the Tribal Affairs Department, which administers the largest hostel network in the state. The department's own hostel page lists 2,633 hostels with 82,604 approved seats, split across ashram schools, 199 junior hostels with 10,031 seats, 1,195 senior hostels with 63,138 seats, 152 college hostels with 8,635 seats and 4 regional excellence hostels with 800 seats. The Scheduled Caste Welfare wing runs a parallel network, and Backward Classes students are accommodated through the same integrated funding arrangement.
What the student actually gets
- Free accommodation. A bed in a departmental hostel building.
- Free meals through the hostel mess, with the food budget released to the hostel account under the integrated norm.
- Electricity and water paid for by the department.
- Furniture and bedding issued by the hostel.
- Library with curriculum and general reading books.
- Coaching arranged for hostel residents.
Integrated Hostel Scheme is a scheme about how hostels are financed and run, not a cash transfer. No money reaches the student's bank account through it. Scholarships, maintenance allowances and the Awas Sahayata rent-support scheme are separate schemes on the same MPTAAS portal.
Who is eligible for the Integrated Hostel Scheme?
You can get a seat if:
- You are a permanent resident of Madhya Pradesh with a domicile certificate.
- You belong to the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe or Other Backward Class category and hold a caste certificate from the competent revenue authority.
- You are currently enrolled in a government school or college, anywhere from Class 1 to Class 12 or at college level.
- You have a Samagra ID and have completed Aadhaar e-KYC on your MPTAAS beneficiary profile.
- Your home falls within the priority distance the scheme uses when seats are allotted at a hostel attached to an institution: 3 km for girls and 8 km for boys.
You cannot apply if:
- You do not belong to the SC, ST or OBC categories. General category students are not covered by this scheme.
- You are domiciled outside Madhya Pradesh.
- You are not currently on the rolls of a government or recognised institution. A student on a gap year is not eligible.
- You have been expelled from a departmental hostel for indiscipline. That disqualification carries forward.
According to the CM Helpline scheme record, no income restriction applies to the Integrated Hostel Scheme. That is a meaningful difference from the post-matric scholarship schemes, which run on a family income ceiling.

How to apply for the Integrated Hostel Scheme
- Get the paperwork ready, caste certificate, Samagra ID, Aadhaar, Madhya Pradesh domicile certificate, previous class marksheet, school or college bonafide certificate and photographs.
- Open the MPTAAS portal at tribal.mp.gov.in and select New Beneficiary Profile Registration. Enter your Samagra member ID; the portal pulls your name, date of birth and family details from the Samagra database.
- Complete Aadhaar e-KYC on the profile. Until e-KYC is done the profile stays in draft and no hostel application can be submitted from it.
- Choose the hostel application for the current session and select your district, the hostel level that matches your class: ashram school, junior, senior or college, and the specific hostel.
- Upload the scanned documents, submit the application and save the application number the portal shows.
- Report to the hostel superintendent with the original documents when called. Admission is confirmed only after the originals are verified and your name is entered in the hostel register.
- Track the application on MPTAAS. The CM Helpline record shows an expected processing time of about one week.
How to apply offline
- Ask the hostel superintendent for the printed application form before the teaching session begins. Forms are also available at the district office of the department concerned.
- Fill it in and attach self-attested copies of the caste certificate, domicile certificate, income certificate if you have one, previous marksheet, transfer certificate and photographs.
- Submit the form to the superintendent and take a dated acknowledgement.
- Attend the verification date with all originals. A district-level selection committee ranks applicants where the hostel is oversubscribed.
Offline applications are entered into MPTAAS by the superintendent afterwards, so the student's record ends up on the same system either way.
How are seats allotted when a hostel is full?
Integrated Hostel Scheme uses distance as the first filter. A hostel attached to a school or college fills first with students of that institution who live within the priority distance โ 3 km for girls, 8 km for boys. Beyond that, the district selection committee ranks applicants on previous class marks and on family circumstances such as an orphan or single-parent household.
Girls' hostels at district and block headquarters are usually the most oversubscribed. If you are not allotted a seat, ask the district officer for your waiting-list position in writing rather than treating the outcome as final, because vacancies open through the session as students transfer out.
Why Integrated Hostel Scheme applications get rejected
- Caste certificate not in the Madhya Pradesh format or issued by an authority the department does not accept. Get a fresh one from the tehsildar or SDM.
- Samagra e-KYC incomplete, so MPTAAS treats the profile as a draft. Complete it at an MP Online, Samagra or Common Service Centre kiosk.
- Name or date-of-birth mismatch between Aadhaar, Samagra and the school record. Fix the Samagra record first: MPTAAS reads from it.
- No proof of current enrolment because the institution has not issued a bonafide certificate. Submit the fee receipt as an interim document.
- Applied to the wrong hostel level, for example a Class 10 student applying to a college hostel.
- Originals not produced at verification within the processing window.
Where to get help
- Hostel superintendent. The designated officer for the application and for day-to-day hostel issues.
- Assistant Commissioner or District Coordinator, Tribal Welfare, the appeal authority named on the CM Helpline scheme record.
- MPTAAS portal at tribal.mp.gov.in for profile, e-KYC and status.
- Madhya Pradesh CM Helpline: dial 181 for a tracked written grievance.
Integrated Hostel Scheme charges nothing. The application fee is nil and the seat is free, so any demand for payment to allot a bed or to add a name to the hostel register should go straight to the CM Helpline.

Who can get a seat under the Integrated Hostel Scheme?
Permanent residents of Madhya Pradesh belonging to the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe or Other Backward Class categories who are studying in a government school or college, from Class 1 up to college level, can get a seat. Boys and girls are accommodated in separate buildings.
Is there an income limit for the Integrated Hostel Scheme?
No income restriction applies, according to the Madhya Pradesh CM Helpline scheme record for Ekikrit Chhatravas Yojana. Category, domicile, current enrolment and distance from the institution are the operative conditions, not family income.
What is the 3 km and 8 km rule in the Integrated Hostel Scheme?
The scheme gives priority to girls whose home is within 3 km of the institution and boys whose home is within 8 km when seats are being allotted at a hostel attached to that institution. The rule exists to fill each hostel with students of the school or college it serves before considering others.
How long does an Integrated Hostel Scheme application take?
About one week, according to the processing time recorded on the CM Helpline scheme dashboard. Physical verification of original documents by the hostel superintendent has to happen inside that window, so report in person as soon as you are called.
Who cannot apply for the Integrated Hostel Scheme?
Students who are not from the SC, ST or OBC categories are not eligible, and neither are students domiciled outside Madhya Pradesh. A student not currently enrolled in a government or recognised institution cannot apply, and a student expelled from a departmental hostel for indiscipline stays disqualified.
Is there any fee for the Integrated Hostel Scheme?
No, the application carries no fee and the hostel seat itself is free. The CM Helpline record lists the application fee as nil. Any demand for money to allot a bed should be reported on the CM Helpline at 181.
