Madhya Pradesh state government scheme
Post Matric College Scholarship for Scheduled Caste students of Madhya Pradesh reimburses compulsory course fees and pays a monthly maintenance allowance ranging from about Rs 300 for a day scholar in a general degree to about Rs 1,500 for a Group I hosteller. Family income must be within Rs 2.50 lakh. Apply online on MPTAAS.
What is the Post Matric College Scholarship for Scheduled Caste students?
Post Matric College Scholarship is the Madhya Pradesh state scholarship, administered by the Scheduled Caste Development Department (Anusuchit Jati Kalyan Vibhag), for Scheduled Caste students of the state who are studying in a recognised college or professional institution after class 12. It pays two things: reimbursement of the compulsory non-refundable fees charged by the institution, and a monthly maintenance allowance fixed by course group.
Post Matric College Scholarship is delivered through MPTAAS, the Madhya Pradesh Tribal Affairs and Scheduled Caste Welfare Automation System, at tribal.mp.gov.in/MPTAAS. MPTAAS is the single platform on which Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Classes post-matric scholarships are handled in Madhya Pradesh, with a separate application form for each category. The Scheduled Caste Development Department runs its own helpdesk on 1800-2331-626 and at helpdesk.scd@mp.gov.in.
For most Scheduled Caste students in Madhya Pradesh, this is the largest single education entitlement they will use. The fee reimbursement component in a professional course can run to far more than the maintenance allowance itself.
How much does the college post-matric scholarship pay?
MPTAAS sorts courses into four groups. College and higher courses fall in Groups I, II and III; classes 11 and 12 sit in Group IV and are covered by a separate guide.
| Course group | Typical courses | Hosteller (per month) | Day scholar (per month) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Group I | Engineering, medicine, PhD, other professional degrees | Rs 1,200 to Rs 1,500 | Rs 550 |
| Group II | Nursing, pharmacy, LLB and equivalent | Rs 820 | Rs 530 |
| Group III | BA, BSc, BCom and other general degrees | Rs 570 | Rs 300 |
| Group IV | Classes 11 and 12 | Rs 380 | Rs 230 |
Maintenance is paid for the months of the academic session, usually 10 months. Separately, the compulsory non-refundable fees are reimbursed, admission fee, tuition fee, examination fee and other compulsory prescribed heads. Refundable deposits, caution money and optional charges such as transport are not reimbursed.
Published figures for the Group I hosteller rate vary between sources because the rate has been revised over the years. Use the table as the shape of the scheme, and take the exact amount from the sanction order that appears in your own MPTAAS account for the year in question.
Who is eligible for the SC post-matric college scholarship?
A student qualifies when all of these are true:
- The student is a permanent resident of Madhya Pradesh.
- The student belongs to a Scheduled Caste notified in Madhya Pradesh and holds a valid caste certificate.
- The student is enrolled in a recognised post-matric course. A degree, diploma, postgraduate or PhD programme: at a recognised institution.
- Family income from all sources is within Rs 2.50 lakh a year. A higher ceiling of up to Rs 6 lakh is applied to certain non-government institution and professional-course cases.
- The student has a Samagra member ID and has completed Aadhaar e-KYC linked to that Samagra record and to the bank account.
- The student has a bank account in their own name, Aadhaar-seeded for DBT.
Who is not eligible:
- Students whose family income crosses the prescribed ceiling.
- Students of other categories, ST, OBC and general category students have their own schemes on the same portal or on other portals.
- Students who are not permanent residents of Madhya Pradesh, even if studying in a Madhya Pradesh college.
- Students in courses at unrecognised institutions, which cannot be selected in the MPTAAS course master at all.
- Students repeating a year of the same course, for the repeated year.
- Students already drawing another scholarship for the same course and year where duplication is barred.
- Students who cannot complete Aadhaar e-KYC or who have no Samagra ID.
How to apply for the SC post-matric college scholarship
- Secure your Samagra member ID and check that your name, date of birth and gender in the Samagra record match your Aadhaar exactly. A mismatch here blocks everything downstream.
- Get a current Scheduled Caste certificate and income certificate from the tehsildar or competent revenue authority. Both must be valid for the current year.
- Register on MPTAAS at tribal.mp.gov.in/MPTAAS using the Samagra member ID, and verify with the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
- Complete Aadhaar e-KYC in the profile and seed your bank account with Aadhaar at your branch so that the DBT credit can reach you.
- Fill the Scheduled Caste post-matric scholarship application for the current academic year: college, course, year of study, hosteller or day-scholar status, income and caste certificate numbers, and bank details.
- Upload the documents, caste certificate, income certificate, class 12 or previous year's marksheet, admission and fee receipt, bank passbook, hostel certificate if applicable, and a gap certificate if there was a break in study.
- Submit, then get the college to verify. The college's scholarship nodal officer must verify the application inside MPTAAS; nothing moves until that is done.
- Track the status in your MPTAAS account through the sanction and payment stages, and follow up with the college if it stalls.
How to check your scholarship status on MPTAAS
- Log in to tribal.mp.gov.in/MPTAAS with your registered credentials.
- Open the scholarship section and select the current academic year.
- Read the stage shown, draft, submitted, pending at institution, pending at department, sanctioned, or paid.
- Cross-check your bank account once the stage reads paid; a credit that does not appear points to a seeding or account-name problem.
Why applications are rejected or payments stall
- Aadhaar e-KYC incomplete, or attempted with a mobile number not linked to Aadhaar.
- Bank account not in the student's own name, or not Aadhaar-seeded.
- Income certificate expired or issued for a previous financial year.
- Caste certificate details not matching the Samagra and Aadhaar records.
- College has not verified the application inside MPTAAS, the single most common stall.
- Course or institution not listed in the MPTAAS master, which needs the college to get itself mapped in the system.
- Hosteller rate claimed without a hostel certificate.
- Duplicate applications created after a failed first attempt.
- Renewal filed without the previous year's result, which the system needs to confirm progression.
Renewal and key dates
Post Matric College Scholarship is renewed each academic year, not sanctioned once for the whole degree. Every year a student files a fresh application with the new fee receipt and the previous year's result, and the college verifies it again. Missing one year's window does not usually end the entitlement for later years, but the missed year is generally lost.
Applications for the session usually open around July and close around December, with extensions announced in some years. The department publishes the operative dates on MPTAAS, and those are the only dates to rely on.
Where to get help
- MPTAAS portal: tribal.mp.gov.in/MPTAAS; registration, e-KYC, application, renewal, status and notices.
- Scheduled Caste helpdesk: 1800-2331-626, email helpdesk.scd@mp.gov.in.
- Scheduled Caste Development Department portal: scdevelopmentmp.nic.in, for district and divisional office contacts and grievance registration.
- Your college's scholarship nodal officer: the verification step sits here and so do most delays.
- CM Helpline 181: the Madhya Pradesh government's general grievance line.
Applying is free at every stage. No cyber café, agent or consultant can get a scholarship sanctioned, and no official from the department will ever ask you for your OTP or your MPTAAS password.

Frequently asked questions
How much is the SC post-matric college scholarship in Madhya Pradesh?
The maintenance allowance depends on the course group: roughly Rs 300 a month for a day scholar in a general degree course up to about Rs 1,500 a month for a hosteller in engineering, medicine or a PhD, plus reimbursement of the compulsory non-refundable fees charged by the college.
What is the income limit for the SC post-matric scholarship?
Family income from all sources must be within Rs 2.50 lakh a year for Scheduled Caste applicants. A higher ceiling of up to Rs 6 lakh applies in certain non-government institution and professional-course situations, so check the condition matching your college.
Which courses are covered by the college post-matric scholarship?
Recognised post-matric courses are covered: general degrees such as BA, BSc and BCom, professional courses such as engineering, medicine, nursing, pharmacy and law, postgraduate degrees, and PhD. The course must be at a recognised institution.
Where do I apply?
Apply online on the MPTAAS portal at tribal.mp.gov.in/MPTAAS. Registration begins from your Samagra member ID and requires Aadhaar e-KYC before the application can be submitted.
Do I have to reapply every year of my degree?
Yes. The scholarship is renewed annually. Each year you file a renewal on MPTAAS with the new fee receipt and the previous year's result, and the college verifies it again.
Can I get this scholarship and a central scholarship at the same time?
No, not for the same course and year. Scholarships that bar duplication cannot be drawn together; the department's system checks for parallel awards, and a duplicate claim is cancelled.
What happens if I fail a year?
A repeated year is generally not funded again. The scholarship is intended to support progression through the course, so a student repeating the same year of the same course should confirm the position with the college nodal officer before filing.
Why is my scholarship stuck at "pending at institution"?
Your college's scholarship nodal officer has not yet verified the application inside MPTAAS. The department cannot advance it while it sits there, so contact the college directly rather than the helpdesk.
