What is the Post Matric Scholarship for Class 11th and 12th Scheduled Caste students?

Post Matric Scholarship for Class 11th and 12th is the Madhya Pradesh state scholarship, administered by the Scheduled Caste Development Department (Anusuchit Jati Kalyan Vibhag), for Scheduled Caste students who have passed class 10 and are studying in class 11 or class 12 in the state. It combines two things: reimbursement of the compulsory non-refundable fees charged by the institution, and a monthly maintenance allowance paid for the academic session.

Post Matric Scholarship for Class 11th and 12th is delivered through MPTAAS. The Madhya Pradesh Tribal Affairs and Scheduled Caste Welfare Automation System at tribal.mp.gov.in/MPTAAS. Despite the "tribal" in the name, MPTAAS is the common platform for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Classes post-matric scholarships in the state; each category has its own application form inside the system, and the Scheduled Caste Development Department runs its own helpdesk on 1800-2331-626.

The term "post-matric" simply means after matriculation, that is after class 10. This is the first slab where a Scheduled Caste student in Madhya Pradesh has to make an application of their own, with an income certificate and Aadhaar e-KYC. Up to class 10 the state scholarships are handled by the school with no income test.

How much does the class 11 and 12 scholarship pay?

MPTAAS groups courses into four slabs and pays a different maintenance rate for each. Classes 11 and 12 fall in Group IV, the lowest slab:

Course group Hosteller (per month) Day scholar (per month)
Group I: engineering, medical, PhD and equivalent Rs 1,200 to Rs 1,500 Rs 550
Group II: nursing, pharmacy, LLB and equivalent Rs 820 Rs 530
Group III: BA, BSc, BCom and other general degrees Rs 570 Rs 300
Group IV, classes 11 and 12 Rs 380 Rs 230

Maintenance is paid for 10 months of the academic session. On top of it, the compulsory non-refundable fees charged by the institution, admission fee, tuition fee, examination fee and other prescribed compulsory heads, are reimbursed. Refundable deposits, caution money, and optional charges such as transport or optional coaching are not covered.

Reported ranges for Group I hosteller maintenance differ between sources because the rate has been revised over time. Treat the table above as the structure of the scheme and confirm the current-year figure from the sanction order shown in your own MPTAAS account.

Who is eligible for this scholarship?

A student qualifies when all of these are true:

  • The student is a permanent resident of Madhya Pradesh.
  • The student belongs to a Scheduled Caste notified in Madhya Pradesh and holds a valid caste certificate.
  • The student has passed class 10 and is enrolled in class 11 or class 12 in a recognised school or higher secondary institution.
  • Family income from all sources is within Rs 2.50 lakh a year, the limit applied to Scheduled Caste applicants.
  • The student has a Samagra member ID and has completed Aadhaar e-KYC linked to that Samagra record.
  • The student has a bank account in their own name, Aadhaar-seeded for DBT.

Who is not eligible:

  • Students whose family income exceeds the prescribed ceiling. Income, not the parent's job title, is the deciding test.
  • Students of other categories; ST, OBC and general category students apply under their own schemes, not this one.
  • Students not resident in Madhya Pradesh, even if studying in the state.
  • Students in classes up to 10, who fall under the pre-matric state scholarship slabs instead.
  • Students repeating the same class after failing, for the repeated year.
  • Students who cannot complete Aadhaar e-KYC or do not have a Samagra ID β€” the application simply cannot be created without them.
  • Students drawing another scholarship for the same course and year where the rules bar duplication.

How to apply for the class 11 and 12 SC post-matric scholarship

  1. Get your Samagra member ID if the family does not already have one, and check that your name, date of birth and gender in the Samagra record match your Aadhaar exactly.
  2. Obtain a current Scheduled Caste certificate and income certificate from the tehsildar or competent revenue authority. An income certificate issued for an earlier year is a routine cause of rejection.
  3. Open the MPTAAS portal at tribal.mp.gov.in/MPTAAS and register a profile using your Samagra member ID. Verify with the OTP sent to the registered mobile number.
  4. Complete Aadhaar e-KYC inside the profile and link the Aadhaar to your Samagra ID and your bank account.
  5. Fill the Scheduled Caste post-matric scholarship application for the current academic year; personal details, class 10 result, institution, course, hosteller or day-scholar status, income and caste certificate numbers, and bank details.
  6. Upload the documents, caste certificate, income certificate, class 10 marksheet, fee receipt, bank passbook and, for hostellers, the hostel certificate.
  7. Submit and take the application to your institution for verification. The school's nodal officer verifies the application inside MPTAAS; until that step is done the application does not move forward.
  8. Track the status in your MPTAAS account until the sanction and payment stages show as complete.

How to check your MPTAAS application status

  1. Log in to tribal.mp.gov.in/MPTAAS with your registered credentials.
  2. Open the scholarship or application section and select the current academic year.
  3. Read the stage shown, draft, submitted, pending at institution, pending at department, sanctioned, or paid.
  4. If the stage says pending at institution, contact your school's scholarship nodal officer directly; the department cannot move it for you.

Why applications are rejected or payments stall

  • Aadhaar e-KYC not completed, or completed with a mobile number that is not linked to Aadhaar.
  • Bank account not in the student's own name, or not Aadhaar-seeded, so the DBT credit bounces.
  • Income certificate expired or issued for a previous financial year.
  • Caste certificate details do not match the Samagra and Aadhaar records: usually a spelling or a surname difference.
  • Institution has not verified the application, which leaves it stuck indefinitely.
  • Duplicate application created after a failed first attempt, leaving two records that cancel each other.
  • Hosteller claimed without a hostel certificate, which is corrected to the day-scholar rate or rejected.

Key dates to watch

Applications for the academic session generally open around July and close around December, with extensions announced by the department in some years. Renewal for class 12 must be filed in the new session with the new fee receipt and the class 11 result. Because the department revises these dates every year, the notice board on the MPTAAS portal is the only reliable source for the current window.

Where to get help

  • MPTAAS portal: tribal.mp.gov.in/MPTAAS; application, e-KYC, status and notices.
  • Scheduled Caste helpdesk: 1800-2331-626, email helpdesk.scd@mp.gov.in.
  • Scheduled Caste Development Department portal: scdevelopmentmp.nic.in, for district and divisional office contacts and grievance registration.
  • Your institution's scholarship nodal officer: the person who verifies your application; most delays sit here.
  • CM Helpline 181: the Madhya Pradesh government's general grievance line.

Applying is free. No agent or cyber cafΓ© can "get your scholarship approved", the entire chain runs through your own Samagra ID, your Aadhaar e-KYC and your institution's verification, and no official will ask you for your OTP.

Frequently asked questions

How much is the post-matric scholarship for SC students in class 11 and 12 in Madhya Pradesh?

Class 11 and 12 fall in the Group IV slab, which carries a maintenance allowance of about Rs 380 a month for hostellers and Rs 230 a month for day scholars, paid for 10 months of the academic session, on top of reimbursement of compulsory non-refundable fees charged by the institution.

What is the income limit for this scholarship?

Family income from all sources must be within Rs 2.50 lakh a year for Scheduled Caste applicants. A higher ceiling of up to Rs 6 lakh is applied in certain non-government institution and professional-course situations, so check the condition that matches your institution.

Where do I apply for the SC post-matric scholarship in Madhya Pradesh?

Apply online on the MPTAAS portal at tribal.mp.gov.in/MPTAAS, the Madhya Pradesh Tribal Affairs and Scheduled Caste Welfare Automation System, which handles SC, ST and OBC post-matric scholarships for the state.

Is Samagra ID compulsory for MPTAAS?

Yes. MPTAAS registration starts from the Samagra member ID, and Aadhaar e-KYC linked to that Samagra record and to the bank account is mandatory before the scholarship can be sanctioned.

When do applications open and close?

Applications generally open around July and close by December for the academic session, though the department fixes and often extends the dates each year. Check the notice on the MPTAAS portal rather than assuming last year's window.

Do I have to apply again in class 12?

Yes, the scholarship is renewed for each academic year. A renewal application on MPTAAS is required after promotion to class 12, along with the new fee receipt and the previous year's result.

Can a student whose parent is a government employee apply?

Eligibility is determined by the family income certificate. Where the combined family income from all sources exceeds the prescribed limit, the student is not eligible regardless of the parent's employer.

Why has my scholarship not been credited?

The usual causes are incomplete Aadhaar e-KYC, a bank account that is not Aadhaar-seeded or not in the student's own name, an unverified profile pending at the institution, or an income or caste certificate that has expired. Check the application status on MPTAAS to see which stage is stuck.
