Madhya Pradesh state government scheme
Shiksha Protsahan Puraskar Yojana is an award of the Madhya Pradesh Shram Kalyan Mandal paying Rs 1,500 to Rs 25,000 to children of registered industrial workers who score high marks; from Rs 1,500 for Class 10 up to Rs 25,000 for MBBS. Up to two children per worker may claim, online through the labour department portal.
What is Shiksha Protsahan Puraskar Yojana?
Shiksha Protsahan Puraskar Yojana is an education incentive award run by the Madhya Pradesh Shram Kalyan Mandal, the state's Labour Welfare Board, under the Labour Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh. The scheme pays a one-time cash award to the high-scoring children of workers employed in industrial units and establishments that fall within the Mandal's jurisdiction. It has been running since 2008.
The purpose is straightforward. A factory worker's household in Bhopal, Indore, Dewas or Pithampur can usually meet school costs, but a child who clears Class 12 well and gets into engineering or medicine faces a step change in expense that the family income cannot absorb. Shiksha Protsahan Puraskar Yojana attaches money to that specific moment. The pass mark, and scales the award to how expensive the course is.
The scheme is notified as a service under the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Guarantee Act, which means the department is bound to a published time limit. On the Lok Seva portal the service appears as Shiksha Protsahan Puraskar Yojana under the Labour Department with a disposal limit of 30 working days.
Key features
- One-time award against a qualifying examination, paid by Direct Benefit Transfer.
- Slab-based: the amount depends on the course, from Rs 1,500 to Rs 25,000.
- Merit-linked: a minimum percentage in the qualifying examination is required.
- Two children per registered worker may claim.
- Free online; a fee of around Rs 20 plus notified charges applies at a Lok Seva Kendra, MP Online kiosk or CSC.
How much is the award?
According to the rates published for the Madhya Pradesh Shram Kalyan Mandal:
| Qualifying course passed | Award |
|---|---|
| Class 10 | Rs 1,500 |
| Class 12 | Rs 1,600 |
| Graduation or post-graduation (general) | Rs 10,000 |
| BE / engineering degree | Rs 15,000 |
| MBBS | Rs 25,000 |
Separate rates have also been reported for professional streams, around Rs 12,500 for pharmacy, ayurvedic and homeopathic courses, Rs 10,000 for law, and about Rs 11,500 for ME or MTech. Because the Mandal revises its rate table, treat these professional-stream figures as indicative and confirm the current slab on shramkalyan.mp.gov.in before you file.
Who is eligible for the education incentive award?
You can claim if:
- Your parent is a worker employed in an industrial unit or establishment within the jurisdiction of the Madhya Pradesh Shram Kalyan Mandal, and is enrolled with the Mandal.
- You are a regular student of a recognised educational institution. The scheme is for students on the rolls, not private or correspondence candidates unless the Mandal's current notification permits them.
- You have studied in an educational institution located in Madhya Pradesh.
- You have passed the qualifying examination with the required percentage: reported thresholds are 75 per cent in the Madhya Pradesh Board Class 10 or 12 examination, 85 per cent in the CBSE examination, 70 per cent in graduation or BE, and 60 per cent in MBBS.
- You are one of not more than two children of the same registered worker claiming under the scheme.
- Your bank account is Aadhaar-seeded, since payment is by DBT.
You cannot apply, or you are not eligible: if:
- Your parent is not a registered worker with the Madhya Pradesh Shram Kalyan Mandal. Workers in the unorganised sector holding a Sambal card are covered instead by Mukhyamantri Jan Kalyan (Shiksha Protsahan) Yojana, which is a different scheme paying course fees rather than a merit award.
- Your parent's establishment lies outside Madhya Pradesh or outside the Mandal's coverage.
- You are the third or later child of the same worker to claim.
- You fell short of the percentage threshold for your board or course. This is a merit award; there is no relaxation published for a near miss.
- You studied outside Madhya Pradesh.
- You are not a regular student, or you cannot obtain the institution's certification.
- You missed the notified last date for the cycle.
What documents are required?
| Document | Mandatory | Notes |

How to apply for Shiksha Protsahan Puraskar Yojana
- Confirm your parent's registration with the Madhya Pradesh Shram Kalyan Mandal and obtain the employer certificate from the factory or establishment. Nothing else in the process works without this.
- Open the Shram Kalyan Mandal portal at shramkalyan.mp.gov.in and locate the Shiksha Protsahan Puraskar Yojana application, or reach the same service through the Madhya Pradesh Lok Seva Guarantee portal.
- Register and fill the online application with the student's details, the parent's employment details, the qualifying examination and marks, and the bank account with IFSC code.
- Upload the document set: marksheet, employer certificate, student declaration, institution certification, bank passbook page, Aadhaar-seeding proof, Samagra card and Aadhaar copies.
- Submit before the notified last date and save the application number shown on screen.
- Track the application on the portal. The service carries a 30 working day disposal limit under the Public Service Guarantee Act.
How to apply through an assisted centre
- Visit a Lok Seva Kendra, an MP Online kiosk or a Common Service Centre.
- Carry the originals and photocopies of every document in the list above.
- Ask the operator to file the Shiksha Protsahan Puraskar Yojana application and pay the service fee: around Rs 20 plus the notified legal charges, which vary by tender.
- Collect the printed acknowledgement carrying your application number.
Online self-filing is free. The fee applies only where a centre files on your behalf.
When is the last date?
The Shram Kalyan Mandal notifies a last date each cycle, and the date has not been constant. The Madhya Pradesh Lok Seva Guarantee service page for Shiksha Protsahan Puraskar Yojana recorded a last date of 31 October for a recent cycle, while departmental notices in other years have set 31 March as the date by which the prescribed application must be submitted. Because the two dates appear against different cycles, do not rely on either from memory: open shramkalyan.mp.gov.in or ask the Shram Kalyan Mandal office for the current year's notification before you file.
How to check your application status
- Sign in to shramkalyan.mp.gov.in with the credentials you registered and open the application status page.
- Enter your application number from the acknowledgement.
- If the application was filed at a Lok Seva Kendra, use the Lok Seva Guarantee tracking with the same reference number.
- Once approved, check your Aadhaar-seeded bank account for the DBT credit.
Why applications get rejected
- Employer certificate missing or from a non-covered establishment. The Mandal's jurisdiction over the employer is the foundation of the claim.
- Marks below the threshold for the board or course.
- Bank account not Aadhaar-seeded. The application list names the seeding certification specifically because DBT credits fail without it.
- Third child of the same worker applying, breaching the two-child cap.
- Institution outside Madhya Pradesh, or the student not on the rolls as a regular student.
- Samagra or Aadhaar name mismatch between the student's records.
- Application filed after the notified last date.
Most rejections are documentary rather than substantive, and a rejected file can usually be corrected and resubmitted within the same cycle if the last date has not passed. Ask for the rejection reason in writing.
Where to take a grievance
- The Madhya Pradesh Shram Kalyan Mandal office, through shramkalyan.mp.gov.in.
- The Labour Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh, and the Madhya Pradesh labour services portal at labour.mponline.gov.in.
- The first appellate authority named on the Lok Seva Guarantee service page, since this service is notified under the Public Service Guarantee Act and a delay beyond 30 working days is itself appealable.
- CM Helpline 181, for a case the department has not moved.
No separate helpline number is published for this scheme, so treat any phone number offered by a third-party website as unverified. Filing online is free, and no agent can charge for "getting the award sanctioned".
