Rajasthan state government scheme
Lado Protsahan Yojana is a Rajasthan Women and Child Development Department scheme that gives a savings bond worth Rs 1,50,000 to a girl child born on or after 1 August 2024 in a government or Janani Suraksha Yojana-accredited hospital. The money is released in seven instalments from birth to graduation. No separate application is needed at birth.
What is Lado Protsahan Yojana?
Lado Protsahan Yojana is a girl-child incentive scheme of the Women and Child Development Department, Government of Rajasthan. The scheme was launched on 1 August 2024 and pays a savings bond worth Rs 1,50,000 to each eligible girl child, released in seven instalments that begin at birth and end when she completes graduation and turns 21.
Lado Protsahan Yojana was announced with a bond value of Rs 1,00,000. In March 2025 the Rajasthan government raised the total to Rs 1,50,000, and the revised figure is the one in force now. The Hindi name, Lado Protsahan Yojana, translates roughly as "daughter encouragement scheme", and the word lado is the affectionate Rajasthani word for a daughter.
The design is deliberate. Rather than hand a family one lump sum at birth, the Rajasthan government spreads the money across the exact points where girls in the state historically drop out: entry into Class 1, the jump to Class 6, the board years of Class 10 and Class 12, and the transition to college. Each instalment is a reason to keep the girl enrolled.
Key features
- Total bond value of Rs 1,50,000 per eligible girl child.
- Seven milestone-linked instalments, from birth to graduation.
- Restricted to girls born on or after 1 August 2024.
- Delivery must be in a government hospital or a Janani Suraksha Yojana-accredited private hospital.
- No separate application at birth; enrolment is data-driven.
Who is eligible for Lado Protsahan Yojana?
A girl child qualifies if:
- She was born on or after 1 August 2024. Girls born before that date are outside the scheme entirely.
- The delivery took place in a government medical institution or in a private hospital accredited under the Janani Suraksha Yojana.
- Her mother or legal guardian is a resident of Rajasthan and holds a Jan Aadhaar family identity.
- The family falls in the economically weaker section the scheme targets, as recorded in the Jan Aadhaar and hospital records.
A girl is not eligible, or loses later instalments, if:
- She was born before 1 August 2024. This is a hard cut-off and there is no retrospective coverage.
- The delivery took place at home, or in a private hospital that is not accredited under the Janani Suraksha Yojana. Home deliveries are the single largest reason families find they cannot claim.
- The mother is not a resident of Rajasthan.
- For the school-stage instalments, she is enrolled in a school that is neither a government school nor recognised by the Rajasthan government.
- For the final instalment, she has not completed graduation or has not reached the age of 21.
Missing one school-stage instalment does not cancel the rest of the bond. If a girl is out of a recognised school for a year and returns, the later milestone payments can still be released when she reaches the next stage, subject to verification by the district office.
How much money is paid at each stage?
Lado Protsahan Yojana pays the bond in seven tranches:
| Stage | Milestone | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Birth of the girl child | Rs 5,000 |
| 2 | Completion of one year and full immunisation | Rs 5,000 |
| 3 | Admission to Class 1 | Rs 10,000 |
| 4 | Admission to Class 6 | Rs 15,000 |
| 5 | Admission to Class 10 | Rs 20,000 |
| 6 | Admission to Class 12 | Rs 25,000 |
| 7 | Completion of graduation and attaining 21 years of age | Rs 70,000 |
The seven amounts total Rs 1,50,000. Almost half the value: Rs 70,000 to sits in the final tranche, which is the scheme's way of making the graduation milestone worth reaching.
The first instalment goes to the mother's Aadhaar-seeded bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer. The middle instalments are routed through the school the girl attends, and the final instalment is released to the girl herself once she is 21 and her graduation is verified.

How to apply for Lado Protsahan Yojana
Lado Protsahan Yojana has no application form at birth. The steps below are what a family actually has to do to make sure the record is created correctly and each later instalment reaches them.
- Deliver in an eligible facility. Register the pregnancy at the government hospital, CHC or PHC and make sure the delivery happens in a government institution or in a private hospital accredited under the Janani Suraksha Yojana. This single decision determines eligibility.
- Confirm the PCTS entry at the hospital. Before discharge, ask the ANM or the ward clerk to confirm that the mother's Aadhaar, Jan Aadhaar and mobile number are recorded in the pregnancy and child tracking system, and that the newborn girl's entry has been created. An incomplete Jan Aadhaar link here is the most common cause of a missing first instalment.
- Get the birth certificate registered with the gram panchayat, nagar palika or nagar nigam within 21 days of birth, and check that the spelling of the mother's name matches her Aadhaar exactly.
- Seed the mother's bank account with Aadhaar. Visit the bank branch and ask for Aadhaar seeding for DBT, not merely Aadhaar linking for KYC. The two are different and only the first enables the transfer.
- Complete the immunisation schedule in the first year and keep the Mamta card updated, then show it at the Anganwadi centre to trigger the second instalment.
- Enrol the girl in a government or recognised school and give the school the Jan Aadhaar number, so the school can file the milestone claims for Classes 1, 6, 10 and 12 without the family submitting anything separately.
- Apply for the final instalment after graduation, through the district Women and Child Development office, with the degree certificate and proof of age.
How to apply offline or fix a missing instalment
- Visit the Anganwadi centre in your ward or village with the Jan Aadhaar card, the birth certificate and the hospital discharge slip.
- Ask the Anganwadi worker or supervisor to pull up the girl's record and check which stage is marked pending.
- If the record does not exist at all, approach the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) for the block, who can raise a correction request to the district office.
- For unresolved cases, file a written grievance with the District Women and Child Development Officer, keeping a copy of the acknowledgement.
Why do Lado Protsahan Yojana instalments get stuck?
- Delivery outside an eligible hospital. A home delivery or a delivery in a non-accredited private nursing home makes the girl ineligible, and no appeal changes this.
- Jan Aadhaar not linked to the mother's record at the hospital, so the payment has no destination.
- Bank account not Aadhaar-seeded, which causes the DBT to fail even when the sanction has been issued.
- Name mismatch between the mother's Aadhaar, her Jan Aadhaar entry and her bank record.
- School not recognised by the Rajasthan government, which blocks the milestone instalments from Class 1 onwards.
- Birth certificate not registered, leaving the date of birth unproven.
Most of these are fixable at the Anganwadi centre or the bank in a single visit. The one exception is the place-of-delivery condition, which cannot be corrected after the fact.
Where to raise a Lado Protsahan Yojana complaint
- Rajasthan Sampark helpline: 181. The state's general grievance line, which accepts scheme complaints.
- Anganwadi worker and Child Development Project Officer for record-level problems.
- District Women and Child Development Officer for sanction and payment disputes.
- Rajasthan Sampark portal at sampark.rajasthan.gov.in for a written, trackable complaint with a registration number.
Registration under Lado Protsahan Yojana is free at every stage. No agent, hospital clerk or private operator can charge a fee to add a newborn girl's name to the beneficiary list, and no official will ask for an OTP sent to the mother's mobile number.

Do I have to apply separately for Lado Protsahan Yojana?
No separate application is required at the time of birth. Details of girls born in government institutions and JSY-accredited private hospitals are uploaded automatically to the department's tracking system, and the beneficiary is registered from that data.
When is each instalment of Lado Protsahan Yojana released?
The seven instalments are Rs 5,000 at birth, Rs 5,000 after the first year of immunisation, Rs 10,000 on admission to Class 1, Rs 15,000 on admission to Class 6, Rs 20,000 on admission to Class 10, Rs 25,000 on admission to Class 12, and Rs 70,000 on completing graduation and turning 21.

Is Lado Protsahan Yojana limited to one girl per family?
The scheme is aimed at girls born in economically weaker families and the district Women and Child Development office applies the sanction order in force at the time of birth. Families should confirm the current limit with the Anganwadi worker before assuming a second daughter is covered.
