Rajasthan state government scheme
Mukhyamantri Rajshree Yojana paid Rs 50,000 per girl child in Rajasthan across 6 instalments, from birth to Class 12, for girls born on or after 1 June 2016 in a government or JSY-approved institution. The scheme has since been merged into Lado Protsahan Yojana, and existing beneficiaries receive their remaining instalments through that scheme.
What is Mukhyamantri Rajshree Yojana?
Mukhyamantri Rajshree Yojana is a Rajasthan Women and Child Development Department scheme, launched in June 2016, that paid Rs 50,000 per girl child in six instalments tied to milestones between birth and Class 12. The scheme's purpose was blunt and stated openly at launch: to change the economics of having a daughter in a state with a difficult child sex ratio, by attaching money to a girl's birth, her immunisation and each stage of her schooling.
Mukhyamantri Rajshree Yojana has since been merged into Lado Protsahan Yojana. New registrations are made under the successor scheme, while girls already enrolled under Rajshree continue to receive their remaining instalments. Anyone reading this page because a Rajshree instalment is due should read the sections below on instalments, status and grievances; anyone reading it to register a newborn should go to Lado Protsahan Yojana instead.
Main features of the scheme as it ran
- Rs 50,000 per eligible girl child, in 6 stage-linked instalments.
- Girls born on or after 1 June 2016 in Rajasthan.
- Institutional delivery compulsory; government hospital or a private hospital approved under Janani Suraksha Yojana.
- Two girl children per family for the full benefit; a third girl received the first two instalments only.
- Paid by DBT into the mother's Aadhaar-seeded bank account.
- No income test and no caste restriction.
Who was eligible for Mukhyamantri Rajshree Yojana?
A girl child qualified if:
- She was born on or after 1 June 2016.
- She was born in Rajasthan, to parents who are residents of the state.
- The delivery took place in a government hospital or a private hospital registered under Janani Suraksha Yojana.
- The parents held the required family identity documents. The Jan Aadhaar record, which replaced the earlier Bhamashah card, and Aadhaar cards.
- She was the first or second girl child in the family for the full benefit.
A girl child was not eligible if:
- She was born before 1 June 2016. The cut-off is hard and there is no discretion to relax it.
- The delivery took place at home or in an institution not approved under Janani Suraksha Yojana.
- She was the third or subsequent girl child, except for the first two instalments, which a third girl child could receive.
- The family had no Jan Aadhaar or Bhamashah record, since the transfer is keyed to the family identity number.
Crucially, Mukhyamantri Rajshree Yojana carried no income ceiling and no caste restriction. Every family meeting the birth-date, institutional-delivery and birth-order conditions qualified, which is what made it a population-level scheme rather than a targeted one.
How much was paid, and at which stage?
Mukhyamantri Rajshree Yojana released Rs 50,000 across six instalments, each one conditional on a verifiable milestone rather than on a date.
| Instalment | Stage | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | At birth, in an approved institution | Rs 2,500 |
| 2 | On completing 1 year with full immunisation | Rs 2,500 |
| 3 | On admission to Class 1 | Rs 4,000 |
| 4 | On admission to Class 6 | Rs 5,000 |
| 5 | On admission to Class 10 | Rs 11,000 |
| 6 | At the Class 12 stage | Rs 25,000 |
| Total | Rs 50,000 |
The structure is worth noticing. Half the total, Rs 25,000 to sits on the last instalment. That was a deliberate design choice: the money is heaviest at the point where girls in Rajasthan have historically been pulled out of school, and lightest at birth, where the family would have registered the birth anyway.
Every instalment is paid by Direct Benefit Transfer into the mother's Aadhaar-seeded bank account, or the guardian's account where the mother is not available. The money never goes to the school or the hospital.
What documents are required for a Rajshree instalment?
| Document | Mandatory | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Birth certificate of the girl | Yes | Registered certificate from the local body |
| Proof of institutional delivery | Yes | Discharge slip from a government or JSY-approved hospital |
| Jan Aadhaar card of the family | Yes | Family identifier for the transfer |
| Aadhaar of mother and father | Yes | Identity and bank seeding |
| Bank passbook | Yes | Mother's or guardian's account, Aadhaar-seeded |
| Immunisation record | For instalment 2 | Full first-year vaccination schedule |
| School admission proof | For instalments 3 to 6 | From a government or recognised school |
How to apply for a pending Rajshree instalment
- Confirm first that the girl is an existing Rajshree beneficiary: that the birth-stage instalment was received or the enrolment was recorded. If it was not, the family should be registering under Lado Protsahan Yojana, not this scheme.
- Collect the milestone proof for the instalment now due, the immunisation card for the one-year instalment, or the school admission record for the Class 1, 6, 10 or 12 instalments.
- Take the milestone proof, birth certificate, Jan Aadhaar card, Aadhaar cards and the mother's bank passbook to the Anganwadi centre for your area, or to the school where the girl is enrolled for the school-stage instalments.
- Have the Anganwadi worker or the school forward the claim to the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) of the block, who is the verifying authority for the Women and Child Development Department.
- Verify that the mother's bank account is Aadhaar-seeded at the bank branch before the claim is processed. An unseeded account is the single largest cause of instalments that are sanctioned but never credited.
- Follow up with the District Women and Child Development office if the credit does not appear within the normal processing period for that instalment.
How to check the status of a Rajshree payment
- Open the Jan Soochna Portal at jansoochna.rajasthan.gov.in and look for the Women and Child Development Department scheme information, which can be searched against a Jan Aadhaar number.
- Check the bank passbook or account statement of the mother's account for the DBT credit, which is what actually confirms a payment.
- Ask the Anganwadi worker for your area, who holds the local beneficiary register and can say whether the claim was forwarded.
- Escalate to the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) of the block, who can see the claim in the department's system.
Why do Rajshree instalments fail?
- Bank account not Aadhaar-seeded, so a sanctioned DBT credit bounces back.
- Account in the father's or a relative's name rather than the mother's or the recorded guardian's.
- Milestone proof never uploaded: most commonly the school admission record for the Class 6 or Class 10 instalment, which the school was supposed to forward.
- Immunisation record incomplete at the one-year stage, which holds the second instalment rather than cancelling it. Complete the schedule and claim.
- Name or date-of-birth mismatch between the birth certificate, the Jan Aadhaar record and the school record.
- Birth-order dispute, where the department's record shows the girl as a third or later girl child.
Almost all of these are correctable. A held instalment is generally released with arrears once the underlying record is fixed, so a family should pursue the correction rather than assume the entitlement has lapsed.
What replaced Mukhyamantri Rajshree Yojana?
Lado Protsahan Yojana is the successor. The Government of Rajasthan merged Mukhyamantri Rajshree Yojana into it and, in doing so, made three changes of substance. The total benefit was raised well above Rs 50,000 and structured as a savings bond released in seven stages rather than six, running from birth through to graduation or age 21 rather than stopping at Class 12. Coverage was extended to girls born in approved private hospitals and studying in private schools, which the Rajshree design had effectively excluded. And the largest single instalment now falls at the graduation stage rather than at Class 12.
Because the amounts under Lado Protsahan Yojana have been revised since launch and reported at different figures in the press, a family registering a newborn should confirm the current instalment schedule on wcd.rajasthan.gov.in rather than rely on a figure quoted second-hand.
Where to complain if something goes wrong
- Anganwadi worker for your area, the first point of contact, and the person who holds the local beneficiary register.
- Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) of your block, for a claim that has been forwarded but not processed.
- District Women and Child Development office, for a claim the CDPO has not settled.
- Rajasthan Sampark on 181, or sampark.rajasthan.gov.in, for a formal written grievance with a trackable number.
- Childline 1098, for any issue concerning the safety or welfare of the child rather than the payment.
No fee is payable at any stage. No Anganwadi worker, school official or agent may charge a family for registering a girl child or for releasing an instalment, and no official will ask for an OTP or a bank password.

Frequently asked questions
Is Mukhyamantri Rajshree Yojana still open to new applicants?
No. The scheme has been merged into Lado Protsahan Yojana. Girls already enrolled under Mukhyamantri Rajshree Yojana continue to receive their remaining instalments, but new registrations are made under Lado Protsahan Yojana instead.
How much did Mukhyamantri Rajshree Yojana pay, and in how many parts?
Rs 50,000 per eligible girl child, released in 6 stage-linked instalments: Rs 2,500 at birth, Rs 2,500 at one year with full immunisation, Rs 4,000 at Class 1 admission, Rs 5,000 at Class 6, Rs 11,000 at Class 10 and Rs 25,000 at the Class 12 stage.
Which girls qualified for the scheme?
Girls born on or after 1 June 2016 in Rajasthan, delivered in a government hospital or a private hospital approved under Janani Suraksha Yojana, whose parents held the required family identity documents.
How many girls in one family were covered?
Two girl children per family received the full benefit. A third girl child was eligible only for the first two instalments, which are the birth and immunisation instalments.
Why is institutional delivery a condition?
Institutional delivery was a deliberate design condition, intended to push births into hospitals where the mother and newborn are attended by trained staff. A home delivery therefore did not qualify, however well documented.
Who receives the money?
The instalments are credited by Direct Benefit Transfer to the mother's Aadhaar-seeded bank account, or to the guardian's account where the mother is not available. The money does not go to the school or the hospital.
What is Lado Protsahan Yojana and how does it differ?
Lado Protsahan Yojana is the successor scheme, which issues a savings bond for a larger amount released across seven stages from birth up to graduation or age 21, and extends coverage to girls born in approved private hospitals and studying in private schools. Confirm current amounts on the Women and Child Development Department portal.
An instalment has not arrived, where do I go?
Start with the Anganwadi worker and the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) of your block, then the District Women and Child Development office. Most missing instalments trace to an unseeded bank account or a school admission record that was never uploaded.
