What is the Award for Success in the State Public Service Commission?

The Award for Success in State Public Service Commission is a one-time cash award given by the Madhya Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board. The Madhya Pradesh Bhavan Evam Anya Sanniraman Karmakar Kalyan Mandal, to the child of a registered construction worker who clears the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) examination.

The Board sits under the state Labour Department and is a statutory body constituted under the Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1996. Its money comes from a cess of 1 per cent of the cost of construction collected under the Building and Other Construction Workers' Welfare Cess Act, 1996 to not from ordinary tax revenue. Education and merit awards for workers' children are a standard welfare use of that fund.

The purpose of an award like this is narrow and deliberate. Most of the Board's education spending goes on scholarships that keep children in school and college. This award sits at the other end of the ladder: it recognises the small number of children of construction workers who make it all the way through to selection in the state civil services, and it puts money in their hands at the point where they need it, between selection and first salary.

Who is eligible for the award?

A candidate can claim if:

  • One parent holds a live registration as a building or other construction worker with the Madhya Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.
  • The parent's registration was valid during the relevant period, not taken out after the result was announced.
  • The candidate has cleared the MPPSC examination and holds the final result or the selection or appointment letter.
  • The candidate can prove the relationship to the registered worker through a Samagra family ID, ration card or birth certificate.
  • The family is resident in Madhya Pradesh.

A candidate is not eligible if:

  • The parent is not registered with the Welfare Board, or the registration has lapsed for non-payment of the annual contribution.
  • The parent's work is outside the definition of building and other construction work in the 1996 Act, a factory worker's child, for example, is covered by the separate Madhya Pradesh Labour Welfare Board schemes.
  • The candidate has only cleared a preliminary stage. The award attaches to final selection.
  • The cap on children per worker family has already been used by a sibling.
  • The claim relates to a central examination such as the UPSC Civil Services Examination, unless the Board's notification for that year covers it. Read the notification rather than assuming.

How to apply for the MPPSC success award

  1. Wait for the MPPSC final result and download or collect the result sheet, and the selection or appointment letter once issued. A prelims mark sheet is not enough.
  2. Check the parent's registration. Take the construction worker registration card to the district labour office and confirm the annual contribution is paid and the card is live. Renew it before filing if it has lapsed.
  3. Collect the claim form for the Board's award scheme from the district labour office (Shram Padadhikari Karyalaya). There is no fee.
  4. Attach the documents, result, relationship proof, candidate's Aadhaar and bank passbook, parent's registration card and residence proof — and get the form attested where the form asks for it.
  5. Submit the file at the district labour office and take a dated acknowledgement. Note the inward number; you will need it to follow up.
  6. Follow up on sanction and payment. The district labour officer verifies the parent's registration record and the result, and the sanctioned amount is released by Direct Benefit Transfer to the candidate's account.

How much is paid and when?

The award is a single lump sum, not a recurring payment, and it is paid by Direct Benefit Transfer into the candidate's own bank account.

The rate is fixed by resolution of the Welfare Board and revised from time to time. This guide does not quote a rupee figure because no current Madhya Pradesh notification could be verified at the time of writing. Confirm the amount in force before you file, with the district labour officer, or on the Labour Department worker helpline 18002338888. Treat any figure circulating on social media or a private "sarkari yojana" site as unverified.

Why claims get rejected

  • Parent's registration lapsed or was taken out only after the result, the most frequent single cause.
  • Relationship not proved. A ration card that does not list the candidate, or a Samagra family ID that shows a different household, will stall the file.
  • Wrong stage of the exam. Claims filed on a prelims result are returned.
  • Bank account problems, not Aadhaar-seeded, name mismatch with Aadhaar, or dormant, so the DBT credit fails.
  • Sibling cap already used where the Board limits the number of children per registered worker.
  • Late filing beyond the window the Board's notification allows after the qualifying result.

Where a file is rejected, ask for the reason in writing, correct that one defect and re-submit the same file. Starting a fresh application usually loses the original inward date.

Frequently asked questions

Who can claim the MPPSC success award from the construction workers board?

A child of a construction worker holding a live registration with the Madhya Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board can claim it, after clearing the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission examination. The award follows the parent's registration, not the candidate's own occupation.

Does the parent have to be registered before the exam result?

Yes, in practice the parent's registration must be live and must have been live during the period claimed. Registering only after the result is announced is the most common reason such claims fail, because the Board's benefits attach to the period of valid beneficiary status.

How much is the award?

The award amount is fixed by resolution of the Madhya Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board and revised from time to time. No current official Madhya Pradesh figure could be verified for this guide, so confirm the rate in force with the district labour officer or on 18002338888 before filing.

Is the award paid for clearing the prelims?

No. Success awards of this kind are paid on final selection through the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission, not on clearing a preliminary stage. The claim needs the final result or the selection or appointment letter as evidence.

Can more than one child of the same worker claim it?

Board education and award schemes normally cap the number of children per registered worker, most often at two. Confirm the cap that applies in the current year with the district labour office before a second child files a claim.

Is there a deadline to file the claim?

Board schemes generally require a claim to be filed within a fixed period after the qualifying event — here, the MPPSC final result. No published Madhya Pradesh time limit could be verified for this guide, so treat the result date as the clock start and file as soon as possible.

What if my claim is rejected?

Ask the district labour officer for the rejection reason in writing, fix the defect and re-submit the same file rather than starting fresh. Most rejections are for a lapsed parent registration, a missing relationship proof, or a bank account that is not Aadhaar-seeded.
