Social Security Deserted Women (Parityakta) Pension Scheme, Madhya Pradesh
Madhya Pradesh state government scheme
Social Security Deserted Women Pension Scheme in Madhya Pradesh pays Rs 600 per month to abandoned women aged 18 to 59 years who belong to a below-poverty-line family and are natives of the state. Running since 1981, the pension is credited monthly by direct transfer. Apply free at the Panchayat office with a BPL card and a Samagra ID.
What is the Social Security Deserted Women Pension Scheme in Madhya Pradesh?
Social Security Deserted Women Pension Scheme is a monthly cash pension for abandoned women, run by the Madhya Pradesh Department of Social Justice and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities. On the state pension portal it appears under its Hindi name, Samajik Suraksha Parityakta Pension Yojana, and it is one of the twelve pension and financial assistance schemes the department delivers through a single platform at socialsecurity.mp.gov.in.
According to the Madhya Pradesh pension portal, the scheme has been running since 1981 and pays Rs 600 per month. The pension is released as an electronic payment order and credited by direct benefit transfer to the beneficiary's own bank or post office account.
Social Security Deserted Women Pension Scheme addresses a category that most social security systems handle badly. A woman whose husband has died can produce a death certificate and claim a widow pension. A woman whose husband is alive but has deserted her has no such document, no share in his income, and often no independent livelihood. Madhya Pradesh recognises "parityakta" status as a qualifying condition in its own right, with a certificate of abandonment replacing the death certificate.
Key features
- Rs 600 per month, the standard rate across the state's pension components.
- Working-age cover from 18 to 59, unlike the old-age components.
- Requires BPL status and a certificate of abandonment.
- Sanctioned locally by the Panchayat or urban body within 15 working days under the Public Service Guarantee Act, 2010.
Who is eligible for the Parityakta pension in Madhya Pradesh?
You can get this pension if:
- You are a native of Madhya Pradesh.
- You are an abandoned woman aged between 18 and 59 years. The portal states the band explicitly.
- You belong to a family living below the poverty line.
- Your name is mentioned on the Samagra portal, that is, you hold a valid 9-digit Samagra member ID.
- You can produce a certificate of abandonment establishing your status.
You cannot apply if:
- Your household is not below the poverty line. BPL status is a mandatory condition and there is no income-certificate alternative.
- You are below 18 years of age.
- You are 60 years or older. At that point the case moves to one of the old-age pension components, which also pay Rs 600 a month, so cover does not end; only the component changes.
- You are not domiciled in Madhya Pradesh.
- You are a widow. Widowhood is covered by the Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme and the Chief Minister's Social Security Kalyani Pension Scheme, not by this component.
- You are already sanctioned another pension on the platform. One pension per Samagra member ID is the rule.
Consider a 41-year-old woman in Rewa district whose husband left the household years ago and who holds a BPL card and a Samagra ID. She qualifies here, even though she is far too young for any old-age pension and cannot claim a widow pension because her husband is alive.

How to apply for the Parityakta pension in Madhya Pradesh
- Obtain a certificate of abandonment. This is the document the whole claim rests on. Approach the Gram Panchayat, the Janpad Panchayat or the urban body, or the district Social Justice office, to find out which authority issues it in your district and what enquiry it involves.
- Confirm your Samagra registration. Your name must be on the Samagra portal with a 9-digit member ID. Get it added at the Panchayat or ward office if it is missing, and check that you are recorded as a separate member and not only under your husband's family entry.
- Collect the remaining enclosures. The BPL card, an age proof certificate showing you are between 18 and 59, and three passport-size photographs.
- Submit the prescribed application form at the Gram Panchayat or Janpad Panchayat office in a rural area, or the Municipal Corporation, Nagar Palika or Nagar Parishad office in a town or city.
- Take an acknowledgement. The 15-working-day statutory clock runs from the date of submission.
- Allow local verification of your age, BPL status, residence and abandoned status.
- Sanction is issued by the Chief Executive Officer of the District Panchayat in rural areas, or by the Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation or the Chief Municipal Officer of the Nagar Palika or Nagar Parishad in urban areas.
- Check the bank account recorded against your pension entry, because the monthly payment order is generated against it.
How much is paid, and when does it arrive?
The scheme pays Rs 600 per month. Payment is entirely electronic. The department generates monthly e-payment orders for sanctioned beneficiaries and the money moves by DBT into their accounts. Nothing is paid in cash and nothing is routed through a family member's account.
The payment cycle is monthly and proposal-driven. Each Gram Panchayat and urban body locks its pension proposal for the month before the department releases payment orders, which is why the credit date shifts a little from one local body to another.
The pension does not need annual re-application once sanctioned. It does need the account to stay active and the beneficiary's record to survive the department's periodic verification drives.
How do I check my pension status?
- Open socialsecurity.mp.gov.in, the Madhya Pradesh pension portal.
- Use the beneficiary or pension status search and enter your 9-digit Samagra ID.
- Read the sanction status, the component you were sanctioned under, and the month-by-month payment history.
- Use the department's m-Pension Mitra mobile app for the same records on a phone, including digital copies of pension documents.
- Where nothing appears against your Samagra ID, return to the office where you applied and ask whether the case was forwarded for sanction.
Why do Parityakta pension applications get rejected?
- No certificate of abandonment, or a certificate from an authority the sanctioning officer does not accept. This is the most common obstacle, because the certificate involves a local enquiry that takes time.
- BPL status not established. An above-poverty-line household is not covered by this component.
- Age outside the 18-to-59 band. Applicants aged 60 and above are correctly rejected here and must be routed to an old-age pension instead.
- Samagra record still attached only to the husband's family. Where the applicant has no independent member entry, the pension cannot be recorded against her. Get the Samagra record corrected first.
- Bank account in the husband's or a relative's name. The account must be in the beneficiary's own name for the payment order to succeed.
- Already drawing another pension on the platform, which the system rejects as duplication.

Frequently asked questions
How much does the deserted women's pension pay in Madhya Pradesh?
The Madhya Pradesh pension portal lists the assistance as Rs 600 per month. The amount is credited monthly by direct benefit transfer into the beneficiary's own bank or post office account, with no cash payment at any counter.
What is the age limit for the Parityakta pension in Madhya Pradesh?
The applicant must be between 18 and 59 years of age. A woman who crosses 59 does not lose social security cover, but her case has to be moved to an old-age pension component, for which the qualifying age is 60.
Who cannot apply for the deserted women's pension?
A woman whose family is not below the poverty line cannot apply, since BPL status is a mandatory condition. Women below 18, women aged 60 and above, and anyone not domiciled in Madhya Pradesh are also not eligible.
What proof of abandonment is needed?
A certificate of abandonment is the operative document. The Madhya Pradesh social protection compendium lists it among the necessary documents for the social security pension, and it is what distinguishes this component from the widow pension, which requires proof of the husband's death.
What is the difference between the Parityakta pension and the widow pension?
The Parityakta pension is for a woman who has been abandoned or deserted while her husband is alive, whereas the widow pension components are for women whose husbands have died. Both pay Rs 600 a month, but the qualifying document differs — a certificate of abandonment against a death certificate.
When did the Social Security Deserted Women Pension Scheme start?
The Madhya Pradesh pension portal records the year of commencement as 1981, making it one of the oldest components on the state's social security pension platform.
How long does the sanction take?
Fifteen working days. The service is notified under the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Guarantee Act, 2010, which gives the applicant a statutory right of appeal if the deadline passes without a decision.
Is there any fee for applying?
No. Application at the Gram Panchayat, Janpad Panchayat or urban body office is free. No official or private agent may charge money to add a name to the pension list, and such demands should be reported on CM Helpline 181.
