Madhya Pradesh state government scheme
MP Mukhyamantri Pension Yojana is the group of Chief Minister-branded social security pensions that Madhya Pradesh pays at Rs 600 per month through the Samagra pension portal, covering widows, unmarried women aged 50 and above and parents with only daughters. Applications are free at the Gram Panchayat or ward office and are decided in 15 working days.
What is MP Mukhyamantri Pension Yojana?
MP Mukhyamantri Pension Yojana is not a single scheme with one set of rules. It is the name people use for the Chief Minister-branded pension components that the Madhya Pradesh Department of Social Justice and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities pays through the state's integrated social security portal at socialsecurity.mp.gov.in.
That portal delivers 12 pension and financial assistance schemes on one platform. Three of them carry the Chief Minister's name:
- Mukhyamantri Samajik Suraksha Kalyani Pension Yojana (SSKPY), for widows, launched in 2018.
- Mukhyamantri Avivahita Mahila Pension Yojana (SSAPY), for unmarried women aged 50 and above, also launched in 2018.
- Kanya Abhibhavak Pension Yojana (KAPS), for elderly couples who have only daughters and no living son, operational since 1 April 2013.
All three pay Rs 600 per month, use the same 9-digit Samagra ID, share the same application counters, and are sanctioned by the same authorities. The rest of the portal's 12 components. The Indira Gandhi national old age, widow and disability pensions and the state's own destitute old-age, abandoned-woman, disability and old-age-home pensions, sit alongside them but are not Chief Minister-branded.
The practical point for a reader is this: you do not choose "the Mukhyamantri pension". You are matched to whichever component your situation fits, and the Panchayat or ward office does that matching when you apply.
How much pension is paid and how does the money arrive?
Each of the three Chief Minister components pays Rs 600 per month, stated in exactly those terms on the scheme pages of socialsecurity.mp.gov.in. The characteristics of the payment are:
- Paid monthly, into the beneficiary's own bank account, by direct transfer.
- No cash disbursement. A pension is never handed over in currency at the Panchayat.
- No deduction. Rs 600 sanctioned means Rs 600 credited.
- Payable for as long as eligibility lasts, subject to periodic verification. A widow who remarries, or a beneficiary who begins to pay income tax, ceases to be eligible.
A beneficiary is entitled to one pension. A person already drawing an Indira Gandhi national pension or a state destitute pension cannot draw a Chief Minister-branded pension on top of it.
Who is eligible for the MP Mukhyamantri pension?
Eligibility differs by component, so read the one that applies to you.
Mukhyamantri Samajik Suraksha Kalyani Pension Yojana (widows). You can apply if:
- You are a widow ("Kalyani") and a resident of Madhya Pradesh.
- You are 18 years of age or above. There is no upper age limit.
- You are registered on the Samagra portal.
- You do not pay income tax, are not a government employee or employed by a government-funded institution, and do not draw a family pension.
Mukhyamantri Avivahita Mahila Pension Yojana (unmarried women). You can apply if:
- You are an unmarried woman aged 50 or above, resident in Madhya Pradesh.
- You are registered on the Samagra portal.
- You do not pay income tax, are not a government employee or employed in a government-funded organisation, and do not receive a family pension.
Kanya Abhibhavak Pension Yojana. You can apply if:
- You are a couple with only daughters and no living son.
- At least one spouse is 60 years of age or above.
- You are residents of Madhya Pradesh and are not income tax payers.
You are not eligible for any Chief Minister pension component if:
- You are an income tax payer. This exclusion applies across all three.
- You are a serving employee of the government or of an institution funded by the government.
- You already draw a family pension or any other government pension.
- You are not registered on the Samagra portal and refuse to get registered.
- You are not a resident of Madhya Pradesh.
- Your circumstances have changed so the component no longer fits. A Kalyani pensioner who remarries, or a Kanya Abhibhavak claimant who has a living son, cannot continue.
What documents are required?
| Document | Mandatory | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 9-digit Samagra ID | Yes | Backbone of the whole pension system |
| Age proof certificate | Yes | Every component has an age condition |
| Three passport photographs | Yes | Standard published requirement |
| Residence proof | Yes | MP residence |
| Self-declaration of not paying income tax | Yes | Part of the form |
| Bank passbook photocopy | Yes | For the monthly credit |
| Husband's death certificate | Kalyani pension only | Proves widowhood |
| Certificate of having only daughters | Kanya Abhibhavak only | Certifies no living son |
| Couple's joint photograph | Kanya Abhibhavak only | Required with the form |
Collect the Samagra ID first if you do not have one. Every other document is useless without it, and the Gram Panchayat or ward office can register you.
How to apply for the MP Mukhyamantri pension
- Get a 9-digit Samagra member ID if you do not already hold one. Register at the Gram Panchayat office in a village or the ward office in a town, or on the Samagra portal.
- Identify the right component: Kalyani for a widow, Avivahita Mahila for an unmarried woman of 50 or above, Kanya Abhibhavak for an elderly couple with only daughters. The Panchayat secretary or ward clerk will confirm the match.
- Collect the prescribed form free from the Gram Panchayat, Janpad Panchayat, Nagar Nigam, Nagar Palika or Nagar Parishad office. The form is also downloadable from socialsecurity.mp.gov.in.
- Fill the form and attach the documents: Samagra ID, age certificate, three photographs, bank passbook copy, residence proof, the income-tax self-declaration, and the component-specific certificate.
- Submit the file at the same office and take a dated receipt. Under the MP Public Service Guarantee Act, 2010 the receipt starts the 15-working-day clock.
- Or apply online on socialsecurity.mp.gov.in by entering your 9-digit Samagra ID, selecting the component and uploading the same documents.
- Track the sanction. The sanctioning authority is the Chief Executive Officer of the Janpad or District Panchayat in rural areas and the Municipal Commissioner or Chief Municipal Officer in urban areas.
- Check the first credit in your bank account once the sanction shows on the portal, and report a non-credit to the same office immediately.
How do I check my MP pension status and payment?
- Open socialsecurity.mp.gov.in.
- Use the pensioner search or beneficiary status option.
- Enter your 9-digit Samagra ID: or, where offered, your district, local body and pension order number.
- The screen shows whether the pension is sanctioned, which component you are drawing, and the months for which payment has been released.
If the portal shows the payment released but the money has not reached you, the problem is almost always at the bank end, a dormant account, a closed account or a name mismatch. Take the portal printout to your bank branch first, then to the Panchayat or ward office.
Why do MP pension applications get rejected or payments stop?
- No Samagra ID, or a Samagra record with a wrong date of birth. The single biggest cause. Correct the Samagra record before reapplying.
- Age not proved to the satisfaction of the sanctioning authority, especially in the 50-year unmarried-woman component and the 60-year Kanya Abhibhavak component.
- Already drawing another pension. The system detects the duplicate against the Samagra ID and rejects the second application.
- Income tax payer or government employee found on verification, which is a hard exclusion.
- Bank account problems: closed, dormant for want of transactions, or the name in the bank not matching Aadhaar and Samagra.
- Annual verification not completed. Pensions are verified periodically and a pensioner who does not present themselves is suspended until they do.
- Change of eligibility; remarriage in the widow component, or a change in family circumstances in the Kanya Abhibhavak component.
Most stoppages are reversible. Complete the pending verification or fix the bank detail and ask the local body to restore the pension with arrears.
Where do I complain?
- Gram Panchayat, Janpad Panchayat or urban local body office where you applied, the first stop for both delay and stoppage.
- Chief Executive Officer, Janpad / District Panchayat in rural areas and the Municipal Commissioner or Chief Municipal Officer in urban areas, the sanctioning authorities.
- Directorate of Social Justice and Divyangjan Empowerment, Link Road No. 3, Bhopal 462016, phone 0755-2556916, email dir.socialjustice@mp.gov.in.
- CM Helpline 181, the state grievance line, which issues a tracked complaint number.
- Public Service Guarantee Act appeal if the 15-working-day limit passes without a decision. Ask the office for the designated appellate officer.
Applying for a Madhya Pradesh pension is free at every stage. No Panchayat secretary, ward clerk or agent may charge for the form, the sanction or the monthly credit.

Frequently asked questions
How much pension does the MP Mukhyamantri pension scheme pay?
The Chief Minister-branded pension components of Madhya Pradesh pay Rs 600 per month, according to the scheme pages on the state's social security portal socialsecurity.mp.gov.in. The amount is credited to the beneficiary's own bank account and no cash is handed out.
Which schemes are covered by the name Mukhyamantri Pension Yojana in MP?
Three Chief Minister-branded components carry the name: Mukhyamantri Samajik Suraksha Kalyani Pension Yojana for widows, Mukhyamantri Avivahita Mahila Pension Yojana for unmarried women aged 50 and above, and Kanya Abhibhavak Pension Yojana for elderly couples who have only daughters. All three run on the same Samagra pension platform.
What is the minimum age for the Chief Minister pension in MP?
The age condition differs by component. The Kalyani widow pension starts at 18 years, the unmarried woman pension at 50 years, and the Kanya Abhibhavak pension requires at least one spouse to be 60 or above. There is no single age bar across the group.
Can an income tax payer get the MP Chief Minister pension?
No. Income tax payers are expressly excluded from every Chief Minister-branded pension component in Madhya Pradesh, and the applicant has to give a self-declaration that they do not pay income tax. Government employees and people drawing a family pension are excluded as well.
How long does the pension application take to decide?
Fifteen working days. The MP Public Service Guarantee Act, 2010 covers these pensions, and the sanctioning authority. The Chief Executive Officer of the Janpad Panchayat in rural areas or the Municipal Commissioner or Chief Municipal Officer in urban areas, must decide within that period.
Where do I apply for the MP Mukhyamantri pension?
Apply at the Gram Panchayat or Janpad Panchayat office if you live in a rural area, or at the Nagar Nigam, Nagar Palika or Nagar Parishad office if you live in a town, or apply online on socialsecurity.mp.gov.in with your 9-digit Samagra ID. Both routes are free.
Do I need a Samagra ID for the pension?
Yes. The 9-digit Samagra member ID is compulsory, because the entire Madhya Pradesh pension system is built on the Samagra database. If you do not have one, get it registered at the Gram Panchayat or ward office before applying.
Why has my MP pension stopped coming?
The usual reasons are a failed or pending annual verification, a bank account that has gone dormant or been closed, an Aadhaar and bank name mismatch, or a change in eligibility such as remarriage in the widow pension. Check the payment status by Samagra ID on socialsecurity.mp.gov.in and take the pending item to the Panchayat or ward office.
