What is Skill India Digital Hub?

Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH) is the national digital platform for skilling, credentialing and employment, launched by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship on 13 September 2023 and operated with the National Skill Development Corporation. Skill India Digital Hub replaced a patchwork of separate portals; PMKVY, NAPS, DDU-GKY, Jan Shikshan Sansthan, PM Vishwakarma and PM-SETU each had their own login, with one account that follows a learner for life.

According to the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, SIDH carries more than 2,900 courses across sectors, along with apprenticeship listings, job openings and a verified digital credential wallet. Every certificate earned through the platform is aligned to the National Skills Qualification Framework, recognised by NCVET, and pushed into the learner's DigiLocker automatically.

Who is eligible for Skill India Digital Hub?

You can register if:

• You are an Indian resident aged 14 years or above. There is no upper age limit.
• You have a working mobile number for OTP login.
• You have an Aadhaar number for e-KYC, which is needed before any certificate can be issued in your name.

There is no caste, income, gender or educational bar to creating a Skill India Digital Hub account. The platform is deliberately open, the restrictions sit on individual courses and schemes, not on the platform.

You cannot apply if:

• You are under 14 years of age.
• You want to enrol in a specific scheme course whose own eligibility you do not meet. PM Vishwakarma courses, for example, are limited to the 18 notified traditional trades, and PM-DAKSH courses to notified social categories. Being registered on SIDH does not by itself make you eligible for those.
• You decline Aadhaar e-KYC, you are then limited to browsing, and are not eligible for a certificate or for scheme-funded training.

A second common misunderstanding is worth stating plainly: Skill India Digital Hub is not a cash benefit scheme. Nobody receives money for registering on SIDH. Any stipend comes from the underlying scheme, such as an apprenticeship under the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme.

What documents are required for Skill India Digital Hub?

How to apply for Skill India Digital Hub registration

1. Open skillindiadigital.gov.in, or install the Skill India Digital app from the Play Store or App Store.
2. Select Register and enter your mobile number.
3. Enter the OTP sent to that number to verify it.
4. Set an account password or PIN for future logins.
5. Complete Aadhaar e-KYC by entering your Aadhaar number and the OTP sent to your Aadhaar-linked mobile.
6. Fill in your profile: name, date of birth, gender, education, state, district and preferred languages.
7. From the dashboard, browse courses by sector or job role, open a course page to check its fee, duration and eligibility, and select Enrol.
8. Complete the course and assessment. Your certificate appears under My Certificates and is pushed to DigiLocker automatically.

How much benefit does Skill India Digital Hub provide?

Skill India Digital Hub provides access rather than money. The measurable benefits are:

• Access to 2,900-plus courses, many of them free, with paid partner courses clearly priced on the course page.
• NCVET-recognised, NSQF-aligned certification at no separate cost.
• Automatic DigiLocker delivery, so a lost certificate can always be recovered.
• One profile across every MSDE scheme, removing repeat registration.

Where a scheme routed through SIDH pays money. An apprenticeship stipend under NAPS, for instance — that payment comes from the scheme and follows the scheme's own rules and rates.

How large is Skill India Digital Hub?

Skill India Digital Hub has grown into one of the largest skilling platforms in the country since its September 2023 launch. According to the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, the platform has onboarded more than 1.5 crore candidates, over 7,000 training providers, more than 70 assessment agencies and over 68,000 employers and industry partners. This scale is the practical argument for the platform: an employer searching for a certified electrician in a particular district, or a Sector Skill Council tracking completion rates, works off one verified national pool rather than several disconnected portals.

SIDH deliberately leans into emerging, higher-value skills. Alongside traditional trades, the catalogue carries Industry 4.0 courses such as Artificial Intelligence foundations, Generative AI, machine learning, data analytics, cyber security, EV service technician and Kisan drone operator. Course content, job-role alignment and assessment are mapped to the National Skills Qualification Framework, so a certificate states not just a subject but a defined competency level that an employer can read.

What can each type of user do on SIDH?

• Learners register free, complete e-KYC, browse and enrol in courses, apply to apprenticeships and jobs, and collect NCVET-recognised certificates in DigiLocker.
• Training providers and assessment agencies register through the partner portal to list courses, run batches and record assessment results.
• Employers post apprenticeship and job openings and search the verified pool of certified candidates by job role and state.
• Sector Skill Councils and the Ministry use the platform's live data on enrolment, completion and placement to plan training capacity.

How to check your Skill India Digital Hub course and certificate status

1. Log in to skillindiadigital.gov.in with your registered mobile number and OTP or PIN.
2. Open My Learning to see enrolled courses and completion percentage.
3. Open My Certificates for issued credentials, each with a QR code for verification.
4. Open DigiLocker and check the "Issued Documents" section under NSDC if a certificate is not visible on the dashboard.
5. Raise a ticket through Help and Support on the dashboard if a certificate has not appeared within a few weeks of assessment.

Common problems on Skill India Digital Hub and how to fix them

• e-KYC fails. The mobile number linked to your Aadhaar is not the one you registered with. Update the mobile number in your Aadhaar record first.
• Name mismatch on the certificate; SIDH takes the name from Aadhaar. Correct it in Aadhaar, then re-run e-KYC.
• Certificate missing from DigiLocker; confirm your DigiLocker account uses the same Aadhaar number, then refresh the issued-documents list.
• Course shows as ineligible. The underlying scheme's criteria apply, not SIDH's open registration rule.
• Old PMKVY records not visible; legacy records were migrated in phases; raise a support ticket with your old candidate ID.

Registration on Skill India Digital Hub is free. No agent, cyber cafe or training centre may charge you for creating a SIDH account, running your e-KYC or downloading a certificate that has already been issued in your name.
