Mukhyamantri Abhyudaya Yojana (Free Coaching for Competitive Examinations)
Uttar Pradesh state government scheme
Mukhyamantri Abhyudaya Yojana gives free offline and online coaching for UPSC, UPPCS, NEET, JEE (Main) and NDA/CDS to students of Uttar Pradesh. Launched on 16 February 2021 by the Social Welfare Department, it runs faculty centres in districts with serving IAS, IPS and PCS officers as mentors. Registration is free at abhyudayup.in.
What is Mukhyamantri Abhyudaya Yojana?
Mukhyamantri Abhyudaya Yojana is a free coaching scheme of the Department of Social Welfare, Government of Uttar Pradesh. According to the department's own scheme page, the yojana was announced in January 2021 and has been formally implemented since 16 February 2021. The scheme is often written as Mukhyamantri Abhyuday Yojana in transliteration, and both spellings refer to the same programme.
Mukhyamantri Abhyudaya Yojana exists to remove the single biggest barrier between a talented student in Uttar Pradesh and a competitive examination: the cost of coaching. Private coaching for UPSC or NEET runs into lakhs of rupees and is concentrated in a handful of cities. The scheme instead puts free classroom teaching, free digital content and free mentoring inside the districts, and charges the student nothing.
The department states the objective as providing free coaching, guidance and resources to meritorious students from economically weaker sections to prepare for UPSC, UPPSC, NDA/CDS, JEE (Main), NEET and other competitive examinations. Youth from rural and underprivileged areas are given special priority.
Who runs it
- The Department of Social Welfare, Uttar Pradesh is the administering department.
- Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Research and Training Institute, Lucknow has been given responsibility for the technical and educational implementation of the scheme.
- Faculty centres are established at the district level, using buildings of state-run or aided colleges, each equipped with a library and at least three classrooms.
Who is eligible for Mukhyamantri Abhyudaya Yojana?
The Social Welfare Department publishes four eligibility conditions.
You can register if:
- Residence, you are a native of Uttar Pradesh. The department records this as mandatory.
- Education. You are studying in Class 10 or Class 12, or you are a graduate.
- Category, all categories are covered. General, OBC, SC and ST students are all eligible.
- Gender; male, female and transgender applicants are all eligible.
Beyond these, each examination stream carries its own academic bar. The department states plainly that eligibility differs by examination: Class 11 and 12 students for JEE and NEET, graduate students for civil services, and so on. Choose the stream that matches your stage of study, because a Class 11 student cannot join the civil services batch.
You are not eligible if:
- You are not a resident of Uttar Pradesh. Abhyudaya is a state scheme funded by the state government for its own students.
- You do not meet the academic requirement of the stream you applied for, for example, applying for the civil services batch before completing graduation.
- You are below Class 10, since the lowest academic entry point named by the department is Class 10.
Seats at any faculty centre are limited, so meeting eligibility is not the same as getting a seat. Selection for most courses runs through an entrance examination, a merit list, or direct admission. Candidates who have cleared the Civil Services or PCS Main examination get direct admission and do not sit the entrance test.
What do students actually get?
Mukhyamantri Abhyudaya Yojana delivers four things, all free:
- Free coaching in both modes: online through the e-learning platform and virtual classrooms, and offline through face-to-face classes at the district faculty centres.
- Expert guidance — personalised mentoring by IAS, IPS, IFS and PCS officers, covering examination patterns and interview preparation. The department records that 500 IAS, 450 IPS and 300 IFS officers support the scheme.
- Digital resources, online study material, live sessions, webinars, panel discussions, doubt-clearing sessions and career counselling. Animated videos, audio-visual presentations, notes, test series and practice material are prepared against the syllabus of the competitive examinations.
- Career counselling sessions in every district, plus classes by subject experts.
There is no cash benefit and no stipend attached to the scheme. The value to the student is the coaching itself, which is why nothing should ever be paid to anyone in connection with an Abhyudaya seat.

How to apply for Mukhyamantri Abhyudaya Yojana
Application is online only. The Social Welfare Department states there is no fee for the application.
- Open the official portal at abhyudayup.in and choose Hindi or English from the language selector at the top of the page.
- Click the Student Registration link on the home page. Teachers who want to volunteer as mentors use the separate teacher registration link.
- Fill the form with your name, mobile number, email ID, address, educational details (high school, intermediate, graduation), district name, Aadhaar number and the name of the examination you are preparing for.
- Upload the supporting documents listed above.
- Submit the form and complete the mobile OTP verification.
- Log in with the registration ID and password you receive, and keep the registration ID safe. You will need it for the entrance test and counselling stages.
After registration, watch the portal and your registered email for the entrance test date, the merit list and the faculty centre allotment for your district.
How to check your Abhyudaya Yojana application status
- Go to abhyudayup.in and use the student login.
- Enter your registration ID and password.
- The dashboard shows your registration status, the stream you are enrolled in, and any pending document or verification step.
- Selection lists and centre allotments for a session are also published on the portal, so check the notices section if your dashboard has not updated.
If your login does not work, the most common cause is a mistyped registration ID rather than a rejected application. Use the password reset option against your registered mobile number before assuming your form was rejected.
Why Abhyudaya registrations get rejected
- No Uttar Pradesh residence proof. Domicile is a mandatory condition, and a form without acceptable address proof will not clear verification.
- Stream and qualification mismatch. Applying for the civil services batch while still in Class 12, or for the NEET batch after graduation, fails at scrutiny.
- Unreadable document uploads. Blurred marksheets and cropped Aadhaar images are a frequent cause of rejection at the verification stage.
- Name mismatch between the Aadhaar card and the educational certificates. Get the correction done before you register.
- Wrong or unreachable mobile number, so the OTP never arrives and the form is never completed.
- Seats filled. Faculty centres have a fixed capacity, so an eligible student can still end up on a waiting list.
Key dates and history of the scheme

- 4 December 2025. The department uploaded the training guidelines for competitive examinations under Mukhyamantri Abhyudaya Yojana on its scheme page, the most recent published guidance document.
Registration opens session-wise for each stream rather than on one fixed annual date, so the portal is the only reliable place to check the current window.

How are students selected for Abhyudaya Yojana classes?
Students for most courses are selected through an entrance examination, merit, or direct admission. Candidates who have already cleared the Civil Services or PCS Main examination are eligible for direct admission without sitting the entrance test.
Is Abhyudaya Yojana only for SC, ST or OBC students?
No. The Social Welfare Department lists the category condition as "for all categories", so general category students are eligible too. Preference in practice goes to meritorious students from economically weaker sections and to youth from rural and underprivileged areas, which is why a ration card is listed among the supporting documents.
Does Abhyudaya Yojana offer online classes or only classroom teaching?
Abhyudaya Yojana runs a hybrid model with both. Online delivery came first when the scheme started in 2021, through an e-learning portal and mobile application carrying free study material, animated videos, notes and test series. Offline face-to-face classes at district faculty centres were expanded afterwards and now run across the state.
