What is the Yuvanidhi Plus scheme?

Yuvanidhi Plus is a skilling initiative of the Government of Karnataka, run by the Department of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood through the Karnataka Skill Development Corporation. Yuvanidhi Plus offers free short-term skill training to people already registered under the Yuva Nidhi unemployment allowance scheme, so that the two-year allowance period ends in a job rather than in nothing.

The reasoning behind the scheme is stated plainly by the Karnataka Skill Development Corporation: Yuvanidhi Plus exists so that "Yuva Nidhi scheme beneficiaries are offered skill-based training programs to equip them with skills [to] make them employable." An allowance keeps a jobless graduate afloat; it does not by itself change why the graduate is jobless. Yuvanidhi Plus is the state's answer to that gap.

Yuvanidhi Plus was sanctioned by Government Order No. KAUJIE 238 KAU-GUI 2024, dated 12 December 2024, following an announcement in the 2024-25 state budget. The stated target is to train 25,000 Yuva Nidhi beneficiaries, and the Karnataka Skill Development Corporation has recorded 7,387 registered candidates on its Yuvanidhi Plus page.

Who is eligible for Yuvanidhi Plus?

You can join if:

  • You are a registered Yuva Nidhi beneficiary in Karnataka. This is the gateway condition: Yuvanidhi Plus is not open to the general public.
  • You hold a diploma, degree or engineering qualification. The corporation states that priority runs to these three groups.
  • You are unemployed and seeking either a job or a route into self-employment.
  • You meet the admission criteria of the specific training institution and job role you choose, which vary by course.

You are not eligible, and cannot apply, if:

  • You have never registered under Yuva Nidhi. Register for Yuva Nidhi first on the Seva Sindhu guarantee portal; Yuvanidhi Plus follows from that registration.
  • You are already employed or self-employed, since the scheme addresses unemployment.
  • You do not meet the entry requirement of the course: some technical job roles at the Government Tool Room and Training Centre or the Karnataka German Technical Training Institute require an engineering or technical background.
  • You are not domiciled in Karnataka, which would already have disqualified you from Yuva Nidhi.

What does Yuvanidhi Plus provide?

Yuvanidhi Plus provides training, not cash. The distinction matters and is the point most often confused:

  • Free short-term skill training in job roles chosen for current labour market demand, delivered by government institutions.
  • Entrepreneurship development training for beneficiaries who want to start something of their own rather than look for salaried work, delivered mainly through the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development of Karnataka.
  • Certification from the training institution on completion, which is what carries weight with employers.
  • No course fee to the trainee. The training is government-sponsored.

The monthly Rs 3,000 for graduates and Rs 1,500 for diploma holders continues to be paid under Yuva Nidhi itself, not under Yuvanidhi Plus.

Which institutions deliver the training?

The Karnataka Skill Development Corporation lists six implementing institutions:

Institution Focus
Karnataka Skill Development Corporation (KSDC) Overall coordination and general skill courses
Government Tool Room and Training Centre (GTTC) Precision engineering, tooling, manufacturing
Bharata Ratna Sir M Visvesvaraya National Training Facility for Skills for All (BMVNTFSA) Broad-based skills training
Centre for Entrepreneurship Development of Karnataka (CEDOK) Entrepreneurship and self-employment
Karnataka ITI Employment Society (KIUS) ITI-linked trades and placement
Karnataka German Technical Training Institute (KGTTI) Advanced technical and industry-aligned training

The mix is deliberate. GTTC and KGTTI address the engineering-diploma end, CEDOK addresses the person who does not want a salaried job at all, and KIUS brings the placement link.

How to apply for Yuvanidhi Plus

  1. Confirm your Yuva Nidhi registration is live. Check the application status on sevasindhugs.karnataka.gov.in: Yuvanidhi Plus is offered on the basis of that registration, so this comes first.
  2. Open the Yuvanidhi Plus page on the Karnataka Skill Development Corporation portal at kaushalkar.karnataka.gov.in and look at the courses and job roles currently on offer.
  3. Contact your District Skill Office, whose details are published on the same portal, to find out which batches are open in your district and at which institution.
  4. Choose a course and job role that matches your qualification and the work you actually want, and check its entry requirement before committing.
  5. Submit your documents: Yuva Nidhi beneficiary number, Aadhaar, certificates, address proof and photographs — to the designated training institution or through the District Skill Office.
  6. Complete enrolment at the institution and attend the batch. The certificate is issued on completion.

Because Yuvanidhi Plus runs in batches at named institutions rather than as a single always-open online form, the District Skill Office is the practical entry point. Do not assume a course listed on the portal is currently recruiting: ask.

How do I check my Yuvanidhi Plus status?

Yuvanidhi Plus does not publish a single self-service status screen of the kind Seva Sindhu provides for Yuva Nidhi. The routes that work are:

  • Your District Skill Office, which holds the district's batch allotment.
  • The training institution you applied to, which maintains its own enrolment list.
  • The State Skill Office contacts published on kaushalkar.karnataka.gov.in.
  • The helpline on 1800-599-9918, the Department of Industrial Training and Employment number published for the scheme.

Common problems and how to resolve them

  • Not registered under Yuva Nidhi. Fix this first; there is no direct entry to Yuvanidhi Plus.
  • No batch running in your district. Batches are allotted by institution and district, so the nearest open batch may be in a neighbouring district. The District Skill Office can tell you.
  • Course entry requirement not met. A general degree holder will not be admitted to a specialised tooling course at GTTC. Choose a role matched to your qualification.
  • Fee demanded. Yuvanidhi Plus is government-funded and free. Report any demand for a course fee to 1800-599-9918.
  • Worry about losing the Yuva Nidhi allowance. Training is not employment, and Yuvanidhi Plus is built for existing beneficiaries. Confirm your specific position with the District Skill Office before enrolling.

Where to get help with Yuvanidhi Plus

  • Department of Industrial Training and Employment helpline: 1800-599-9918.
  • District Skill Offices and the State Skill Office, listed with contact details on kaushalkar.karnataka.gov.in.
  • Karnataka guarantee schemes call centre 1902, for questions about the underlying Yuva Nidhi registration.
  • The training institution itself; GTTC, KGTTI, CEDOK, KIUS or BMVNTFSA, for course content, batch dates and certification.

Yuvanidhi Plus training is free. No institution, agent or middleman may charge you for admission to a government-sponsored batch.

Common reasons for rejection

Yuvanidhi Plus does not reject applications in the way a cash-benefit scheme does with a portal-generated rejection letter. Instead, enrolment is refused or dropped at the District Skill Office or training institution stage for a specific set of reasons. Knowing these in advance saves a wasted trip to the institution.

  • Yuva Nidhi registration not active or not verified. Yuvanidhi Plus enrolment is checked against your Yuva Nidhi beneficiary record on Seva Sindhu. If that registration was rejected, is still pending verification, or has lapsed, the training institution will not enrol you. Fix: resolve your Yuva Nidhi status first through the Seva Sindhu guarantee portal or the 1902 call centre before approaching a training institution.
  • Qualification does not match the job role's entry requirement. A general BA or BCom graduate applying for a precision-tooling course at GTTC, or an engineering-only role at KGTTI, will be turned away at enrolment because the course entry criteria are technical-background specific. Fix: check the qualification requirement listed for each job role on the kaushalkar.karnataka.gov.in course page before choosing it, or ask the District Skill Office which courses fit a general degree.
  • Already employed or self-employed. Yuvanidhi Plus is meant for beneficiaries still drawing the Yuva Nidhi unemployment allowance. If verification shows you have taken up a job or started a business since registering, enrolment is refused because the scheme's purpose (bridging unemployment) no longer applies to you. Fix: this is not something to contest; report your changed employment status honestly to the District Skill Office, since continuing to claim Yuva Nidhi while employed is a separate compliance problem.
  • Certificate or marks card does not match the Yuva Nidhi registration details. If the name, degree, or graduation year on your certificate does not tally with what was submitted at Yuva Nidhi registration, the institution can hold up your enrolment pending clarification. Fix: carry the same certificate and identity documents used at Yuva Nidhi registration, and get any name-spelling mismatch corrected at source before enrolling.
  • Batch or district quota already filled. Each institution runs a limited number of seats per batch per district, and a late applicant to a popular course (entrepreneurship courses at CEDOK fill quickly) may simply miss the cutoff for that round. Fix: this is not a permanent rejection; ask the District Skill Office when the next batch for that course opens and register early for it.
  • Incomplete document set at enrolment. Turning up without the Yuva Nidhi beneficiary number, Aadhaar, or address proof means the institution cannot complete enrolment on the spot. Fix: carry all listed documents (beneficiary number, Aadhaar, certificates and marks cards, Karnataka address proof, photographs) to the enrolment appointment rather than assuming any can be submitted later.

None of these are appealable through a formal grievance process the way a rejected subsidy application might be. Because Yuvanidhi Plus runs through District Skill Offices rather than a centralised online form, the working fix in every case above is to go back to the District Skill Office (or the specific institution) with the corrected document or updated status, rather than to resubmit anything on a portal.

Frequently asked questions

What is Yuvanidhi Plus?

Yuvanidhi Plus is a Karnataka government skilling initiative that gives registered Yuva Nidhi beneficiaries free short-term skill training so they become employable. According to the Karnataka Skill Development Corporation, the initiative aims to train 25,000 beneficiaries across a range of job roles through six government training institutions.

Who can join Yuvanidhi Plus?

Registered Yuva Nidhi beneficiaries can join, with priority to diploma, degree and engineering graduates who are unemployed and looking for a job or wanting to start a business. Someone who has never registered under Yuva Nidhi is not eligible and should apply for Yuva Nidhi first.

Does Yuvanidhi Plus pay a monthly allowance?

No, Yuvanidhi Plus is a training benefit rather than a cash benefit — the monthly Rs 3,000 or Rs 1,500 continues to be paid under Yuva Nidhi itself. What Yuvanidhi Plus adds is fully funded short-term training and entrepreneurship support at no cost to the trainee.

Which institutions deliver Yuvanidhi Plus training?

Six government institutions deliver the training — Karnataka Skill Development Corporation, Government Tool Room and Training Centre, Bharata Ratna Sir M Visvesvaraya National Training Facility for Skills for All, Centre for Entrepreneurship Development of Karnataka, Karnataka ITI Employment Society, and Karnataka German Technical Training Institute.

Will I lose my Yuva Nidhi allowance if I take Yuvanidhi Plus training?

Training is not employment, so joining a Yuvanidhi Plus course does not by itself end your Yuva Nidhi eligibility. The allowance stops when you take up a job, become self-employed or enrol in higher education — confirm your own position with your District Skill Office before enrolling.

Where do I apply for Yuvanidhi Plus?

Apply through your District Skill Office or the Karnataka Skill Development Corporation portal at kaushalkar.karnataka.gov.in, which publishes the Yuvanidhi Plus page along with District Skill Office and State Skill Office contacts. Enrolment itself is completed at the designated training institution.

Is there a fee for Yuvanidhi Plus training?

No. Yuvanidhi Plus training is government-sponsored and free to the trainee. No institution or agent may charge a course fee, and any demand for money should be reported to the Department of Industrial Training and Employment helpline on 1800-599-9918.
