What is the Mukhya Mantri Sports Development Scheme?

Mukhya Mantri Sports Development Scheme is a Government of Tripura scheme run by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports. Who is eligible for the Mukhya Mantri Sports Development Scheme?

• The state as a host venue, through infrastructure capable of taking national and international events.

Who cannot apply:

• Individual citizens cannot apply for a personal cash benefit under this scheme. There is no application form, no eligibility certificate and no sanction letter for a person.

• Private clubs and commercial gyms are not the intended recipients of state sports infrastructure funding.

This is the single most common misunderstanding about schemes with "Mukhya Mantri" in the name: not every one of them puts money in a citizen's hand. How to apply under the Mukhya Mantri Sports Development Scheme

Because there is no citizen form, the real route runs through institutions. The steps below are the practical path for an athlete, coach or association.

1. Identify your discipline's recognised state association. State sports associations affiliated to their national federation are the department's normal counterparts for facility allotment, coaching camps and event hosting.
2. Approach the association for facility access or camp selection. Selection for training at a state facility is made through the association, the departmental academy or a coaching camp, not through a public application.
3. Write to the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports for proposals that go beyond an association's remit. A new facility, an event bid, or equipment support. Address the Director of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of Tripura, setting out the proposal, the discipline, the users served and the estimate.
4. Follow the department's notifications. Tenders for construction and upgrade work, and calls relating to camps and events, are published by the department rather than advertised as a scheme window.

The Tripura State DBT Portal at dbttripura.gov.in carries a page for this scheme showing the total direct benefit transfer, number of beneficiaries and number of transactions for the current financial year. For an infrastructure scheme those counters will usually read zero, and a zero there does not mean the scheme is dormant.

For actual progress, which facilities are under construction, which are complete, which events have been allotted, the source is the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports itself, through its notifications and memorandums pages at yas.tripura.gov.in.

Common misunderstandings

• "I can apply and get money." No. There is no individual benefit under this scheme.
• "Zero on the DBT dashboard means the scheme is closed." No. The dashboard tracks direct benefit transfers, which an infrastructure scheme does not make.
• "This is the scholarship scheme." No. The department runs a separate Sports Talent Scholarship and a separate State Talent Search Programme.
• "Only elite athletes matter here." The stated aim includes hosting events in the state, which broadens access for club and district-level players too.
