Chetan Chauhan Shramik Krida Protsahan Yojana
Uttar Pradesh state government scheme
Chetan Chauhan Shramik Krida Protsahan Yojana gives Rs 25,000 to Rs 1,00,000 to children of Uttar Pradesh factory workers selected for district, state, national or international level sport. The worker's basic pay plus dearness allowance must not exceed Rs 24,000 a month, and applications are filed at skpuplabour.in.
What is Chetan Chauhan Shramik Krida Protsahan Yojana?
Chetan Chauhan Shramik Krida Protsahan Yojana is a sports incentive scheme of the Uttar Pradesh Labour Welfare Board, the Uttar Pradesh Shram Kalyan Parishad, which works under the state Labour Department. The Parishad's own portal, skpuplabour.in, lists it in Hindi as "चेतन चौहान श्रमिक क्रीडा प्रोत्साहन योजना". The scheme is named after Chetan Chauhan, the India opening batsman who later served as a minister in Uttar Pradesh.
The Parishad states the objective directly: to give financial assistance to those sons and daughters of workers employed in establishments and industrial factories registered under the Factories Act, 1948 who have been selected for district, state, national or international level sport. Chetan Chauhan Shramik Krida Protsahan Yojana pays between Rs 25,000 and Rs 1,00,000 depending on the level reached.
The reasoning behind a labour welfare board funding sport is practical. Kit, coaching, travel and time away from paid work are the costs that end most promising sporting careers in low-income households, and they arrive right after selection, not after a medal. The scheme therefore pays on selection, not on a result.
This is a Labour Welfare Board scheme for factory workers, financed from the Labour Welfare Fund constituted under the Uttar Pradesh Labour Welfare Fund Act, 1965, whose rules came into force in 1972. It is not a scheme of the UP Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, and construction workers holding a UPBOCW labour card are covered by that board's separate schemes at upbocw.in.
Who is eligible for the Chetan Chauhan sports award?
A claim can be made if all of the following are true:
- The worker is employed in an establishment in Uttar Pradesh registered under the Factories Act, 1948.
- The worker's monthly basic pay plus dearness allowance is not more than Rs 24,000.
- The worker has completed at least 6 months of continuous service in that factory or establishment and is still in service at the time of applying.
- The son or daughter has been selected for district, state, national or international level sport.
- That selection took place on or after 23 March 2021.
- The benefit has not already been drawn for 2 children of the same worker.
A claim cannot be made, or is not eligible, if:
- The worker's monthly basic plus DA is above Rs 24,000.
- The worker is employed in a central or state government establishment, which the Uttar Pradesh Labour Welfare Fund Act, 1965 excludes from coverage.
- The worker is a registered construction worker under the UPBOCW Board.
- The selection happened before 23 March 2021, the portal fixes this as a hard cut-off.
- The worker has less than 6 months of continuous service, or has left the job.
- The benefit has already been paid for 2 children of the same worker.
- Selection cannot be evidenced by a certificate from a recognised sports association.
How much does the scheme pay at each level?
| Level of selection | Award per child |
|---|---|
| District level | Rs 25,000, one time |
| State level | Rs 50,000, one time |
| National level | Rs 75,000, one time |
| International level | Rs 1,00,000, one time |
Each amount is a one-time lump sum per son or daughter, credited to the bank account named in the application. A player who moves up a level in a later year is a fresh matter for the district labour office rather than an automatic top-up, so ask before assuming a district award can be upgraded to a state award for the same child.
Where the woman worker is herself the player, the portal states the benefit is paid to her. That makes this one of the few Parishad schemes where the worker and the beneficiary can be the same person.
What documents are required?
| Document | Mandatory | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Verified printout of the online application | Yes | Attested by the institution and the factory |
| Bank passbook copy of the beneficiary | Yes | Legible self-attested copy with the IFSC code |
| Ration card or family register extract | Yes | Proves the dependent relationship |
| Aadhaar cards of the father and mother | Yes | Legible attested copies |
| Selection certificate from a recognised sports association | Yes | Signed by office-bearers, showing the level of selection |
The selection certificate carries the whole weight of the claim, because it fixes which of the four slabs applies. Make sure it names the level, the event and the date of selection — a certificate that says only that the child "participated" does not establish selection, and a certificate with no date cannot be tested against the 23 March 2021 cut-off.
How to apply for Chetan Chauhan Shramik Krida Protsahan Yojana

- Select Chetan Chauhan Shramik Krida Protsahan Yojana, complete the form, upload the photograph and submit.
- Print the submitted application.
- Get the printout countersigned by the educational institution and by the factory or establishment where the parent works.
- Log in again, open "योजना के आवेदन का विवरण" (Details of Scheme Application), upload the scanned attested application together with the selection certificate, the bank passbook copy, the ration card or family register extract and the parents' Aadhaar copies, and save.
- After successful verification the award is transferred to the beneficiary's bank account, and an SMS confirmation is sent to the registered mobile number.
- Track progress under "आवेदन की स्थिति" (Application Status).
There is no separate offline form. The only physical steps are the two attestations at step 7.
How do you check the status of the award?
Log in to skpuplabour.in with the same user ID and password and open "आवेदन की स्थिति". The screen shows whether the establishment and institution verifications are recorded, whether the file has reached the sanctioning stage, and whether the amount has been released. An SMS is sent at the point of payment, so if the status reads paid and no SMS arrived, check that the mobile number on the portal account is current.
Why do sports award applications get rejected?
- Selection before 23 March 2021, which puts the claim outside the scheme's effective date.
- Selection certificate from an unrecognised body, or one that shows participation rather than selection.
- No date on the selection certificate, so the cut-off cannot be verified.
- Wage above Rs 24,000 basic plus DA.
- Less than 6 months of continuous service at the factory, or the parent has since left the job.
- Third child. The benefit stops at 2 children per worker.
- Only one attestation obtained, where both the institution and the employer must sign.
- Illegible bank passbook copy or a missing IFSC code, which stops the transfer after sanction.
A deficient document can normally be corrected. Re-scan it clearly, upload it again under "योजना के आवेदन का विवरण" through the same login, and save.
