Rajasthan Aapki Beti Yojana
Rajasthan state government scheme
Rajasthan Aapki Beti Yojana pays an annual scholarship of Rs 2,100 to girls in Classes 1 to 8 and Rs 2,500 to girls in Classes 9 to 12 who study in government schools, come from BPL families, and have lost one or both parents. Running since 2004, it is applied for by the school on Shala Darpan: students do not apply themselves.
What is Rajasthan Aapki Beti Yojana?
Rajasthan Aapki Beti Yojana is a scholarship scheme run by the School Education Department, Government of Rajasthan, for girl students from very poor families who have lost a parent. The scheme has been running since 2004 and is one of the state's longest-standing girl child education schemes. It is commonly written as Aapki Beti and is administered entirely through government schools using the Shala Darpan school management portal.
Rajasthan Aapki Beti Yojana pays an annual cash scholarship; Rs 2,100 a year for a girl in Classes 1 to 8, and Rs 2,500 a year for a girl in Classes 9 to 12 to directly into the girl student's own bank account by Direct Benefit Transfer. The purpose is narrow and practical: to keep a girl who has lost a parent from dropping out because the family cannot meet uniform, book, transport and examination costs.
Rajasthan Aapki Beti Yojana has one feature that surprises most families. There is no public application form and no student login. The school enters the eligible girls on Shala Darpan, the school head approves and locks the list, and the District Education Officer gives final approval. A parent's job is therefore to get the documents into the school office, not to hunt for an online portal.
Who is eligible for Aapki Beti Yojana?
A girl student qualifies if:
- She is a resident of Rajasthan.
- She is enrolled in a government school in Rajasthan, in any class from Class 1 to Class 12.
- Her family is on the Below Poverty Line (BPL) list.
- She has lost one or both parents. The death certificate of the deceased parent is the anchor document of the whole application.
- She has a bank account in her own name, Aadhaar-seeded and linked to the family's Jan Aadhaar record, so the DBT can reach her.
- She is currently enrolled and attending in the session for which the scholarship is claimed.
A student cannot apply, or is not eligible, if:
- She studies in a private school, including a private aided school. Only government schools are covered.
- Both her parents are alive. The scheme is specifically for girls who have lost one or both parents.
- Her family is not on the BPL list.
- She is not a resident of Rajasthan or is studying outside the state.
- She is not enrolled in the current session — a girl who has dropped out or whose name has been struck off cannot be included in that year's locked list.
- The applicant is a boy. The scheme is exclusively for girl students.
How much is paid?
| Class | Annual scholarship |
|---|---|
| Class 1 to Class 8 | Rs 2,100 |
| Class 9 to Class 12 | Rs 2,500 |
Payment is annual, not monthly, and is credited in one instalment for the session. The transfer goes to the girl student's own account; a parent's or guardian's account is not accepted, which is why opening a minor's account with the school's help is often the first practical step for a family.
What documents does the school need?
| Document | Mandatory | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Death certificate of parent(s) | Yes | The core eligibility proof |
| BPL card or certificate | Yes | Family must be on the BPL list |
| Jan Aadhaar card | Yes | Rajasthan family ID |
| Student's Aadhaar card | Yes | Identity and account seeding |
| Student's bank passbook | Yes | Account in her own name, Aadhaar-seeded |
| School enrolment / study certificate | Yes | Drawn from the Shala Darpan record |
| Previous year marksheet | No | Confirms promotion and continuity |
| Photograph | No | For the school's case file |
How to apply for Rajasthan Aapki Beti Yojana
- Open a bank account in the girl student's own name if she does not have one, and get it seeded with her Aadhaar number. Without this, the DBT cannot be made and the case will not be locked.
- Collect the documents. The death certificate of the deceased parent or parents, the BPL card, the Jan Aadhaar card, the student's Aadhaar and the bank passbook photocopy.
- Submit them to the school office and ask the class teacher or the school head to include the student in the Aapki Beti list for the current session. Take a written acknowledgement.
- The school signs in to Shala Darpan at rajshaladarpan.rajasthan.gov.in with its institutional login, opens the scheme module, and enters the student's name, class, Jan Aadhaar number and bank details against her existing Shala Darpan enrolment record.
- The school head verifies, approves and locks the list. Once locked, the school cannot edit the entry, so parents should check the spelling of the name and the bank account number before the lock.
- The District Education Officer (DEO) examines the locked list and gives final approval, in some cycles with OTP-based authentication.
- The department releases funds and the amount is credited by DBT into each approved student's account.
There is no offline paper route to the department and no e-Mitra route. Everything runs through the school and the DEO.
How do I check whether the scholarship has been sanctioned?
- Ask the school office to show the Shala Darpan entry and the status against the student's name. The school can see whether the case is entered, locked, approved or objected.
- Check the Jan Soochna portal at jansoochna.rajasthan.gov.in, which publishes scheme-wise beneficiary information for Rajasthan without a login.
- Check the bank passbook or account statement for the DBT credit once the department announces release for the session.
Because the school owns the data entry, a student missing from the list is nearly always a school-level omission, not a departmental rejection, and it is fixed fastest by writing to the school head and the Block Education Officer while the entry window is still open.
Why do Aapki Beti cases fail?
- Bank account in the parent's name instead of the student's. This is the most common single cause of a failed credit.
- Account not Aadhaar-seeded, so DBT bounces even though the case was approved.
- Name mismatch between the Shala Darpan record, Aadhaar and the bank account. All three must read the same.
- Death certificate not attached, or attached in a name that does not match the Jan Aadhaar family record.
- BPL status not reflected in the Jan Aadhaar record.
- School missed the entry window for the session, in which case the case must be filed in the next cycle.
- Student transferred mid-session and the new school did not carry the case forward.
Where do I complain or ask questions?
- School Education Department, Rajasthan: 0141-2700872 or 0141-2706230.
- School head and Block Education Officer for entry, lock and correction issues.
- District Education Officer for approval-stage disputes. The DEO is the approving authority on Shala Darpan.
- Rajasthan Sampark at sampark.rajasthan.gov.in for a tracked written grievance.
Applying costs nothing. No school, teacher or agent may charge a fee to include a girl's name in the Aapki Beti list, and no one should be asked for an OTP on the student's bank account.

Frequently asked questions
How much does Rajasthan Aapki Beti Yojana pay?
Rajasthan Aapki Beti Yojana pays Rs 2,100 a year to a girl studying in Classes 1 to 8 and Rs 2,500 a year to a girl in Classes 9 to 12. The amount is credited once a year by Direct Benefit Transfer into the student's own bank account, not the parent's or guardian's.
Who is eligible for Aapki Beti Yojana?
A girl student enrolled in a Rajasthan government school in Classes 1 to 12, whose family is on the BPL list, and who has lost one or both parents, is eligible. She must be a resident of Rajasthan with a Jan Aadhaar-linked bank account in her own name.
Can a girl in a private school apply?
No. Rajasthan Aapki Beti Yojana is limited to girls studying in government schools. Girls in private schools, including private aided schools, are not eligible, and neither are girls studying outside Rajasthan.
How do I apply for Aapki Beti Yojana?
You do not apply yourself — the school applies on your behalf through the Shala Darpan portal. Submit the death certificate, BPL proof, Jan Aadhaar, Aadhaar and the student's bank passbook to the school office, and the school enters and locks the case, after which the District Education Officer verifies it.
Who cannot apply for the scheme?
Girls whose parents are both alive, girls from families not on the BPL list, girls in private schools, boys, and students outside Rajasthan are not eligible. A girl who has left school or is not enrolled in the current session also cannot be included in that year's list.
When is the money credited?
The scholarship is credited annually after the District Education Officer approves the school's locked list and the department releases funds for the session. Timing varies by year, so track the DBT credit through the school and through the Jan Soochna portal rather than expecting a fixed date.
Does the scholarship continue every year?
Yes, as long as the girl remains enrolled in a Rajasthan government school and the family remains eligible, the school includes her again in the next session's list. There is no separate lifetime cap, but the amount changes from Rs 2,100 to Rs 2,500 when she moves from Class 8 to Class 9.
What if the school has not filed my case?
Raise it in writing with the school head first, then with the Block Education Officer and the District Education Officer, who is the approving authority on Shala Darpan. Because the entire application originates at the school, a missing case is almost always a school-level data entry omission rather than a rejection.
