Mukhyamantri Grameen Rozgar Guarantee Yojana (Rajasthan)
Rajasthan state government scheme
Mukhyamantri Grameen Rozgar Guarantee Yojana gives rural Rajasthan households 25 extra days of guaranteed wage work in a financial year after they finish their 100 MGNREGA days, funded entirely by the state. Households with a person with disability and Sahariya, Kathodi and Khairua families get 100 extra days.
What is Mukhyamantri Grameen Rozgar Guarantee Yojana?
Mukhyamantri Grameen Rozgar Guarantee Yojana is a Rajasthan state scheme, announced in 2023, that extends the rural employment guarantee beyond the 100 days provided by the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act. The Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department of the Government of Rajasthan runs it, and the state treasury pays for the additional days in full.
Mukhyamantri Grameen Rozgar Guarantee Yojana provides 25 additional days of guaranteed unskilled wage work per rural household in a financial year, taking the total guarantee from 100 days to 125 days. For households that include a person with disability, and for families of the Sahariya, Kathodi and Khairua communities, particularly vulnerable tribal groups concentrated in Baran, Udaipur and neighbouring districts, the addition is 100 days rather than 25, taking their total to 200 days.
The reasoning behind the scheme is seasonal. In much of rural Rajasthan a household that depends on rainfed cultivation exhausts its 100 MGNREGA days well before the lean months are over, and the choice that follows is migration. The extra 25 days were designed to cover part of that gap without the family having to leave the village.
Main features
- 25 extra days of guaranteed wage employment, over and above MGNREGA's 100.
- 100 extra days for disability-affected households and Sahariya, Kathodi and Khairua families.
- 100 per cent state funded, no central share.
- Same wage rate, work types and measurement rules as MGNREGA.
- Wages paid by DBT into the worker's own bank or post office account.
Who is eligible for Mukhyamantri Grameen Rozgar Guarantee Yojana?
Your household can claim the extra days if:
- You are a permanent resident of Rajasthan living in a rural area.
- Your household holds a valid MGNREGA job card issued by the gram panchayat.
- Your household has completed its 100 days of MGNREGA employment in the current financial year.
- Your family is registered in Jan Aadhaar.
- The adult member who works is willing to do unskilled manual work at the site allotted.
Your household is not eligible if:
- You live in a municipal or urban area. Urban households come under Indira Gandhi Shahari Rozgar Guarantee Yojana instead, which is a different scheme with its own registration.
- You do not hold an MGNREGA job card. The state days are an extension of the job card entitlement, not a standalone benefit.
- Your household has not yet used up its 100 MGNREGA days in that year, the state days open only after that.
- You are asking for skilled or salaried employment. The guarantee covers unskilled manual work on approved public works only.
- You have already exhausted the additional days for the financial year. The entitlement resets on 1 April.
The guarantee is per household, not per person. Two adults from the same job card sharing the work use up the same 25-day pool between them.

How to apply for Mukhyamantri Grameen Rozgar Guarantee Yojana
- Get an MGNREGA job card at your gram panchayat if the household does not have one. Registration is free and the panchayat must issue the card to any rural household whose adult members are willing to do unskilled manual work.
- Register your family in Jan Aadhaar at an e-Mitra kiosk if it is not already registered. Rajasthan schemes are paid against the Jan Aadhaar family record. When the scheme was launched in 2023, this registration was taken at the Mehngai Rahat Camps held across the state; enrolment now runs through the panchayat and e-Mitra.
- Work your 100 MGNREGA days in the normal way, demanding work in writing at the gram panchayat and collecting the dated receipt each time.
- Demand work again after the 100 days are exhausted. Submit the written demand at the gram panchayat exactly as before; the household is now allotted work under the state scheme. Insist on the dated receipt, it starts the clock on the panchayat's obligation to provide work.
- Report at the worksite when the muster roll opens and have your attendance marked against your job card number.
- Check the wage credit in your passbook after the muster roll is closed and measurement is done.
Where the household claims the enhanced 100 extra days, attach the disability certificate or the caste certificate to the demand application so that the panchayat records the correct category against the job card.
How much do you earn?
Wages under Mukhyamantri Grameen Rozgar Guarantee Yojana are paid at the notified MGNREGA wage rate for Rajasthan for the financial year concerned, and on the same task-and-measurement basis as MGNREGA: output measured against the schedule of rates, not a flat daily payment regardless of work done. The rate in force when the scheme was introduced was Rs 255 per day, revised upward from Rs 231. Wage rates are revised by notification each April, so check the current year's rate at the gram panchayat before assuming a figure.
At Rs 255 a day, 25 extra days are worth about Rs 6,375 to a household in a year. For a Sahariya or disability-affected household drawing 100 extra days, the same rate works out to roughly Rs 25,500 a year in additional wages.
How to check your work and payment status
- Ask the gram panchayat for the muster roll entry against your job card number for the period worked.
- Check the job card itself β days worked and wages paid are entered on it, and the household is entitled to see the entries.
- Check your bank or post office passbook for the DBT credit.
- Use the Jan Soochna Portal at jansoochna.rajasthan.gov.in, which publishes scheme and beneficiary information across Rajasthan departments including employment schemes.
- Attend the gram sabha social audit, where muster rolls and payments for the panchayat are read out publicly.
Common problems and how to fix them
- Job card not updated with the days worked; get the panchayat to enter them; an unrecorded day cannot be paid.
- Demand not recorded in writing, so no obligation is created. Always take the dated receipt for a work demand.
- Bank account not seeded with Aadhaar, so DBT fails even though the muster roll is closed.
- Household shown as not having completed 100 days because some days were entered against a different job card in the family; reconcile at the panchayat.
- Special category not recorded, so a Sahariya or disability-affected household is capped at 25 days instead of 100. Submit the certificate and get the category flag corrected.
- Work not provided within the statutory period after a written demand. This is a grievance, and it should be raised on 181 and with the Block Development Officer.

Frequently asked questions
How many extra days does Mukhyamantri Grameen Rozgar Guarantee Yojana give?
Mukhyamantri Grameen Rozgar Guarantee Yojana gives 25 extra days of wage work per rural household in a financial year, taking the total from the 100 MGNREGA days to 125 days. Households with a person with disability and families of the Sahariya, Kathodi and Khairua communities get 100 extra days instead of 25.
Do I need to finish my 100 MGNREGA days first?
Yes. The extra days start only after the household has exhausted its 100 days of MGNREGA employment in that financial year. The state days sit on top of the central entitlement, they do not run alongside it.
Who pays the wages for the extra days?
The Government of Rajasthan pays for the additional days entirely from the state budget. The first 100 days are funded by the Centre under MGNREGA; days 101 to 125 are a state liability.
What is the daily wage?
The wage is the notified MGNREGA wage rate for Rajasthan applicable in that financial year, paid on the same measurement and task basis as MGNREGA. The Rajasthan rate at the time the scheme was introduced was Rs 255 per day, revised from Rs 231; check the current year's notification, as the rate is revised each April.
Do I have to apply separately for the extra 25 days?
No separate scheme application is needed once your household is registered. You demand work at the gram panchayat in the normal MGNREGA way; the system continues to allot work under the state scheme after your 100 central days are used up.
Is this the same as the urban employment guarantee?
No. Indira Gandhi Shahari Rozgar Guarantee Yojana is a separate scheme for urban households in municipal areas of Rajasthan. Mukhyamantri Grameen Rozgar Guarantee Yojana applies only in rural areas and only to MGNREGA job card holders.
Can a household with no job card benefit?
No, a household without an MGNREGA job card is not eligible. The first step is to get a job card issued free at the gram panchayat, work the 100 MGNREGA days, and only then does the state entitlement open up.
