What is Mukhyamantri Suposhan Nutri Kit Yojana?

Mukhyamantri Suposhan Nutri Kit Yojana is a maternal nutrition scheme of the Women & Child Development Department, Government of Rajasthan, run through the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) network of Anganwadi centres. The scheme distributes free nutrition kits to pregnant women registered at Anganwadi centres, and was framed to reach about 2.35 lakh pregnant women with a budget of about Rs 25 crore. Distribution began in July 2025.

The design is deliberately simple. Rajasthan already registers pregnancies at Anganwadi centres and issues a Mother and Child Protection card that records the month of pregnancy. The scheme uses that existing register to identify beneficiaries, so no separate application form exists, a woman whose pregnancy is registered is on the list.

What the scheme is trying to fix

  • Anaemia and low haemoglobin in pregnancy, which remain widespread in Rajasthan and drive low-birth-weight deliveries.
  • Energy and micronutrient gaps in the third trimester, when the foetus gains most of its weight.
  • Leakage of cash benefits into general household spending, which is why the benefit is given as food rather than money.
  • Weak Anganwadi contact with pregnant women, a kit collection visit brings the woman to the centre, where her weight and haemoglobin can be checked.

The scheme's Hindi name is Mukhyamantri Suposhan Nutri Kit Yojana, and it is sometimes referred to locally simply as the nutri kit scheme.

What is inside the Suposhan Nutri Kit?

Each kit contains roughly 3.1 kg of food across six items, chosen for energy density, iron and calcium rather than volume:

Item Approximate quantity Why it is included
Desi ghee 1,000 g Concentrated energy and fat-soluble vitamins
Dates (khajoor) 500 g Iron and natural sugars, useful against anaemia
Roasted groundnuts 500 g Protein, fat and folate
Roasted gram (bhuna chana) 500 g Protein, iron and fibre
Jaggery (gud) 500 g Iron and quick energy
Makhana (fox nuts) 100 g Calcium and low-fat snack protein

The items are ordinary Indian kitchen foods, not sachets or supplements, so a woman can eat them without instruction. The kit supplements the hot cooked meal and take-home ration already provided under ICDS supplementary nutrition. It does not replace them.

Who is eligible for the Suposhan Nutri Kit?

You are eligible if:

  • You are a resident of Rajasthan with a Jan Aadhaar family ID.
  • You are pregnant and your pregnancy is registered at an Anganwadi centre in your area.
  • You have completed the qualifying stage of pregnancy, the first kit is issued from the 5th month and the second in the 9th month, and registration is expected to have been done by around the fourth month.
  • You hold a Mother and Child Protection card showing the month of pregnancy.

You cannot apply, or you are not eligible, if:

  • You are not a resident of Rajasthan.
  • Your pregnancy is not registered at an Anganwadi centre. This is the single disqualifier that catches most women, registering only at a private hospital does not put you on the ICDS list.
  • You have already delivered. The kit is tied to the pregnancy stage; a postnatal mother is covered by other ICDS entitlements instead.
  • You are seeking a cash payment. No cash is paid under this scheme, and anyone offering to convert your kit into money is acting outside the rules.

There is no income ceiling, caste condition or education requirement published for this scheme. Registration at an Anganwadi centre is the qualifying act.

What documents are required?

Document Mandatory Notes
Jan Aadhaar card Yes Rajasthan family ID used for beneficiary listing
Aadhaar card Yes Identity proof of the pregnant woman
Mother and Child Protection (MCP) card Yes Records the month of pregnancy
Anganwadi pregnancy registration Yes The list the scheme runs on
Rajasthan residence proof Yes Jan Aadhaar usually suffices
Mobile number No For SMS alerts about kit availability

Carry the MCP card every time you visit the Anganwadi centre. It is the document the Anganwadi worker checks to decide whether your 5th-month or 9th-month kit is due.

How to apply for Mukhyamantri Suposhan Nutri Kit Yojana

There is no application form, but there is a sequence you must follow, because the kit only reaches women who are on the Anganwadi register.

  1. Register your pregnancy at your local Anganwadi centre as soon as it is confirmed, ideally within the first three months. Take your Aadhaar card, Jan Aadhaar card and, if you already have it, your MCP card.
  2. Collect and keep the Mother and Child Protection card issued at registration. Make sure the Anganwadi worker records the last menstrual period date and expected delivery date correctly, because those decide your kit dates.
  3. Attend the monthly Anganwadi day, the fixed day each month when weighing, antenatal check-ups and take-home ration distribution happen. Attendance keeps your record active.
  4. Collect the first kit in your 5th month. The Anganwadi worker will call you when the kit is available at the centre. Sign the distribution register.
  5. Collect the second kit in your 9th month, the same way.
  6. Check the entry in the distribution register each time. If a kit is recorded as issued but you did not receive it, raise it immediately with the Child Development Project Officer of your block.

How to check whether you are on the list

  1. Ask your Anganwadi worker to show you the beneficiary register for your centre and confirm your name and pregnancy month are entered.
  2. Check the Poshan Tracker entry the Anganwadi worker maintains, since Rajasthan records ICDS beneficiaries digitally.
  3. Look up your family's scheme records against your Jan Aadhaar number on jansoochna.rajasthan.gov.in, Rajasthan's public disclosure portal.
  4. Contact the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) for your block through the district Women & Child Development office if the centre-level record does not match what you were told.

Why women miss out, and how to fix it

  • Pregnancy registered only at a private hospital, never at the Anganwadi centre. Fix: register at the Anganwadi centre as well; the two registrations are separate.
  • Late registration, after the 5th month has already passed, so the first kit is missed. Fix: register anyway, and you remain eligible for the 9th-month kit.
  • Jan Aadhaar not updated after marriage or a move, so the woman's name sits against the wrong family or the wrong village. Fix: update Jan Aadhaar at an e-Mitra kiosk before your 5th month.
  • Wrong expected delivery date on the MCP card, which pushes the kit dates out of line with the actual pregnancy. Fix: ask for a correction at the next antenatal check-up.
  • Migration between districts during pregnancy. Fix: get your record transferred to the Anganwadi centre at your new address rather than starting fresh.
  • Stock not delivered to the centre. Fix: this is a supply problem, not an eligibility problem — escalate to the CDPO and then to 181.

How this fits with Rajasthan's other maternity benefits

Mukhyamantri Suposhan Nutri Kit Yojana is an in-kind scheme and does not replace cash maternity support. A pregnant woman in Rajasthan may separately be entitled to Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana cash instalments, to Janani Suraksha Yojana delivery assistance for an institutional delivery, and to Indira Gandhi Matritva Poshan Yojana in the districts where it operates. Receiving a nutrition kit does not reduce or cancel any of these, check each separately with your ANM or Anganwadi worker rather than assuming one benefit rules out another.

Where to complain or get help

  • Anganwadi worker and supervisor, first level, for kit availability and register entries.
  • Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) of your ICDS block, the right authority for supply gaps and non-distribution.
  • District Deputy Director, Women & Child Development at the district collectorate.
  • Rajasthan Sampark to 181, for a written grievance with a tracking number.
  • Childline to 1098, for child protection issues.

The kit is free. No Anganwadi worker, helper or agent may charge money for it, demand a share of the contents, or ask for payment to add your name to the register. Any such demand should be reported to the CDPO and on 181.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to fill an application form for the Suposhan Nutri Kit?

No. There is no separate application form. Pregnant women are identified automatically from the pregnancy registration records maintained at Anganwadi centres, so the only step that matters is getting your pregnancy registered at your local Anganwadi.

How many nutrition kits does a pregnant woman get?

2 kits per pregnancy — the first in the 5th month and the second in the 9th month, distributed through the Anganwadi centre.

What is inside the Suposhan Nutri Kit?

Each kit holds about 3.1 kg of food across six items — roughly 1,000 g desi ghee, 500 g dates, 500 g roasted groundnuts, 500 g roasted gram, 500 g jaggery and 100 g makhana.

Is there any cash benefit under this scheme?

No. Mukhyamantri Suposhan Nutri Kit Yojana is an in-kind scheme — you receive food, not money. Cash maternity support in Rajasthan comes through separate schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana and Indira Gandhi Matritva Poshan Yojana.

Who is not eligible for the nutrition kit?

Women who are not residents of Rajasthan, women whose pregnancy is not registered at an Anganwadi centre, and women who have not completed the qualifying stage of pregnancy are not covered. The kit is tied to pregnancy, so it does not continue after delivery.

How big is the scheme?

The scheme was framed to cover about 2.35 lakh pregnant women with a budget of about Rs 25 crore, with distribution beginning in July 2025.

What should I do if my Anganwadi centre says no kit is available?

Raise it with the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) for your block first, and if that does not work, file a complaint on Rajasthan Sampark by dialling 181. Kits are supplied centre by centre, so a stock gap at one centre is usually a supply issue the CDPO can fix.
