What is Mukhyamantri Kanya Abhibhavak Pension Yojana?

Mukhyamantri Kanya Abhibhavak Pension Yojana is a Madhya Pradesh social security pension for elderly parents who have only daughters. According to the state's social security pension portal at socialsecurity.mp.gov.in, the scheme was launched on 1 April 2013 and is run by the Social Justice and Divyangjan Welfare Department.

The idea behind the scheme is specific to old-age security in India. Elderly couples without a son have historically had weaker informal support in old age, because daughters traditionally move to their husbands' households. Madhya Pradesh responds with a small, guaranteed monthly transfer that goes directly to the couple. It is not means-tested against a poverty line, but income tax payers are excluded, which sets a practical ceiling.

Core facts

  • Rs 600 per month, as stated on the department's scheme page.
  • Paid by Direct Benefit Transfer into the beneficiary's bank account.
  • Condition: only daughters, no living son.
  • Age condition: at least one spouse aged 60 or above.
  • Decision deadline: 15 working days under the Public Service Guarantee Act,

The scheme sits inside the same family of pensions as the Indira Gandhi National pensions, the Kalyani pension and the Avivahita pension, all of which the state runs from the single socialsecurity.mp.gov.in platform against a Samagra ID.

Who is eligible for Mukhyamantri Kanya Abhibhavak Pension Yojana?

You can be considered if:

  • You are a resident of Madhya Pradesh.
  • At least one spouse is 60 years or above. Both need not have crossed 60.
  • The couple has only daughters and no living son.
  • Neither spouse is an income tax payer.
  • The family is registered on the Samagra portal with a 9-digit member ID.

You are not eligible and cannot apply if:

  • The couple has a living son, whatever his age or circumstances. This is the defining exclusion of the scheme.
  • Either spouse is an income tax payer. A self-declaration on this point is part of the application, and a false declaration invites recovery of the pension paid.
  • Neither spouse has reached 60 years.
  • The applicant is not a resident of Madhya Pradesh.
  • The family has no Samagra registration, in which case registration must be completed before the application can be processed.

A surviving parent is covered rather than shut out. The portal's document list allows an individual photograph instead of the joint couple photograph, and asks for the spouse's death certificate or a court order in the case of abandonment, which is how a widow, widower or abandoned spouse in the same situation is brought inside the scheme.

How much is the pension and how is it paid?

Mukhyamantri Kanya Abhibhavak Pension Yojana pays Rs 600 per month, which works out to Rs 7,200 a year. There is no separate rural and urban rate, no graded slab by age, and no lump sum component.

Payment is made by Direct Benefit Transfer to the beneficiary's bank account. Three things therefore have to be right for the money to actually land: the account must be live and not dormant, it must be in the beneficiary's own name, and it must be seeded with Aadhaar. A dormant account is the most common cause of a pension that has been sanctioned on paper but never credited in practice.

The pension is a recurring entitlement. Once sanctioned, it continues without a fresh application each year, subject to the periodic verification the local body carries out to confirm the beneficiary is alive and still eligible.

How to apply for Mukhyamantri Kanya Abhibhavak Pension Yojana

Online route

  1. Make sure the family is registered on samagra.gov.in and note the 9-digit Samagra member ID.
  2. Open the Madhya Pradesh social security pension portal at socialsecurity.mp.gov.in and choose the pension application option.
  3. Enter the Samagra member ID to pull up the family and member details already held by the state.
  4. Select Kanya Abhibhavak Pension Yojana as the scheme and complete the remaining fields, including bank account details.
  5. Upload the age proof, residence certificate, photograph and the certificate confirming the couple has only daughters, and record the income tax self-declaration.
  6. Submit the application and save the acknowledgement or application number shown on screen.

Offline route

  1. Collect the prescribed application form free of cost from the gram panchayat or janpad panchayat if you live in a rural area, or from the nagar nigam, nagar palika or nagar panchayat if you live in a town.
  2. Fill the form and attach the age proof, residence certificate, Samagra ID, bank passbook copy, joint photograph and the only-daughters certificate.
  3. Submit the form at the same office and take a dated acknowledgement.
  4. Follow up after 15 working days, which is the decision period the Public Service Guarantee Act, 2010 sets for this service.

The sanctioning authority is the Chief Executive Officer of the District Panchayat in rural areas and the Municipal Commissioner or Chief Municipal Officer in urban areas.

How do I check my pension status?

  1. Open socialsecurity.mp.gov.in and use the pension search or beneficiary status option.
  2. Enter the 9-digit Samagra member ID. This is the key the state indexes pensioners on, so it works even if you have mislaid the application number.
  3. Check whether the record shows the pension as sanctioned and which month was last disbursed.
  4. Cross-check against the bank passbook, since a sanctioned pension can still fail at the DBT stage if the account is dormant or not Aadhaar-seeded.
  5. If the portal shows nothing after 15 working days, go back to the office that accepted the form with your acknowledgement.

Why applications get rejected, and how to fix them

  • A living son on the family record. This is a substantive rejection and cannot be cured. It is also why the only-daughters certificate is verified locally rather than accepted on a self-declaration.
  • Samagra record mismatch, the date of birth in Samagra differing from the age proof, or family members recorded incorrectly. Get the Samagra record corrected at the gram panchayat or the Samagra help desk first, then reapply.
  • Age not yet 60 for either spouse. Reapply when the elder spouse turns 60.
  • Income tax payer status picked up during verification.
  • Bank account problems; closed, dormant, joint account in another name, or not Aadhaar-seeded. This produces a silent failure: the sanction exists but the money bounces back.
  • Incomplete documents, most often a missing residence certificate.

For the fixable categories, correct the underlying record before resubmitting. Submitting the same application again without changing anything simply produces the same rejection.

Key dates and timing

Mukhyamantri Kanya Abhibhavak Pension Yojana has been running since 1 April 2013 and is open all year. Madhya Pradesh has not announced a last date to apply for it. The only date that binds is the 15 working day decision timeline under the Public Service Guarantee Act, 2010, which runs from the date the local body accepts a complete application. An incomplete application does not start that clock, which is why the acknowledgement matters.

Help and grievance redressal

  • CM Helpline 181 — Madhya Pradesh's grievance line for state schemes, by phone, mobile app or WhatsApp.
  • Directorate of Social Justice and Divyangjan Welfare, Link Road No. 3, Bhopal 462016 to phone 0755-2556916, email dir.socialjustice@mp.gov.in.
  • District Panchayat CEO (rural) or Municipal Commissioner / Chief Municipal Officer (urban), the sanctioning authorities, and the right level for a delayed or refused sanction.

There is no fee for this pension application, online or offline. The form is free, Samagra registration is free, and no official is entitled to a share of the Rs 600. Any demand for money to sanction the pension should itself be reported on CM Helpline 181.

Frequently asked questions

How much pension does Mukhyamantri Kanya Abhibhavak Pension Yojana pay?

Can a couple with one son and three daughters apply?

No. Mukhyamantri Kanya Abhibhavak Pension Yojana is restricted to couples with no living son. A single living son, of any age, makes the couple not eligible under the portal's stated condition.

When did the scheme start?

Madhya Pradesh launched Mukhyamantri Kanya Abhibhavak Pension Yojana on 1 April 2013 under the Social Justice and Divyangjan Welfare Department.

How long does approval take?

Applications are to be decided within 15 working days under the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Guarantee Act, 2010. The sanctioning authority is the Chief Executive Officer of the district panchayat in rural areas and the Municipal Commissioner or Chief Municipal Officer in urban areas.

Is a surviving single parent eligible?

Yes. The portal accepts an individual photograph in place of the joint photograph and asks for the spouse's death certificate, or a court order in the case of an abandoned spouse, which shows the scheme covers a surviving or abandoned parent as well as a couple.

What if the pension stops arriving?

Check the bank account first — a dormant account, a closed account or one not seeded with Aadhaar is the usual cause of a failed DBT credit. If the account is fine, raise it with the gram panchayat or urban body, then with the District Panchayat CEO or Municipal Commissioner, and finally on CM Helpline 181.
