What is Mukhya Mantri Seekho Kamao Yojana?

Mukhya Mantri Seekho Kamao Yojana (MMSKY) is a Madhya Pradesh state scheme run by the Technical Education, Skill Development and Employment Department through the Madhya Pradesh State Skill Development and Employment Generation Board. The scheme, commonly written in Hindi as "मुख्यमंत्री सीखो कमाओ योजना", places educated but unemployed young people inside real private businesses for structured on-the-job training and pays them a monthly stipend while they learn.

Mukhya Mantri Seekho Kamao Yojana was notified by government order on 19 May 2023 and launched on 15 June 2023. It replaced the earlier working title Mukhyamantri Yuva Kaushal Kamai Yojana, which is why both names still appear in older circulars and news reports.

The core idea is a cost-sharing apprenticeship. A private establishment takes on a trainee, trains them on its own machines and processes, and pays 25 per cent of the prescribed stipend directly into the trainee's bank account. The Madhya Pradesh government reimburses the remaining 75 per cent through Direct Benefit Transfer. The trainee earns while learning; the employer gets a trained worker at a quarter of the wage cost.

Main features

  • Over 700 courses across more than 46 sectors, including IT, healthcare, electronics, automobile, hospitality, banking, retail and engineering.
  • Training happens at the workplace, not in a classroom-only training centre.
  • Completion earns a State Council for Vocational Training (SCVT) certificate.
  • The stipend is paid monthly, with the state's share moving by DBT.

Who is eligible for Mukhya Mantri Seekho Kamao Yojana?

You can join if:

  • You are 18 to 29 years old on the date of registration.
  • You are a resident of Madhya Pradesh, verified through your Samagra ID.
  • You have passed Class 12, completed an ITI trade, or hold a diploma, graduate or postgraduate qualification.
  • You have an Aadhaar-seeded bank account in your own name.
  • You are currently unemployed and not drawing a regular salary.

There is no caste restriction, no gender restriction and no family income ceiling on candidate registration. Women and men apply on identical terms.

You are not eligible if:

  • You are below 18 or above 29 years of age.
  • You are not a resident of Madhya Pradesh: candidates domiciled in other states cannot register on the portal.
  • Your highest qualification is below Class 12 and you have no ITI certificate.
  • You are already in regular salaried employment, or already drawing a stipend under another government apprenticeship or skilling scheme for the same period.

For establishments, the rules are separate. An establishment cannot register unless it is operating in Madhya Pradesh with a valid GST registration, and it cannot take trainees beyond 15 per cent of its total workforce, counting both regular and contractual employees.

How much stipend does Mukhya Mantri Seekho Kamao Yojana pay?

The stipend slab depends on the candidate's highest qualification:

Qualification Monthly stipend
Class 12 pass Rs 8,000
ITI pass Rs 8,500
Diploma holder Rs 9,000
Graduate or postgraduate Rs 10,000

Of each amount, the establishment pays 25 per cent into the trainee's account and the state government reimburses 75 per cent by DBT. So a graduate trainee on Rs 10,000 receives Rs 2,500 from the employer and Rs 7,500 from the government each month.

Stipend is released monthly against verified attendance. MMSKY requires a minimum of seven hours of daily attendance, marked through the scheme's mobile application. Where attendance is short, the month's stipend release is held until the record is corrected.

Trainees under MMSKY are treated as trainees, not employees. The government order records that provisions of EPF, statutory bonus and the Industrial Disputes Act do not apply to the training engagement. This is why the payment is described as a stipend rather than a wage.

Aadhaar card Yes Used for e-KYC and bank seeding
Class 12 marksheet / ITI / diploma / degree Yes Decides the stipend slab

How to apply for Mukhya Mantri Seekho Kamao Yojana

  1. Open the official portal mmsky.mp.gov.in and select the candidate registration option.
  2. Enter your Samagra ID and complete Aadhaar-based e-KYC using the OTP sent to your Aadhaar-linked mobile number.
  3. Fill in your profile: education, district, bank account details, and upload your qualification certificate.
  4. Save the user ID and password the portal generates and sign in.
  5. Browse the course list, filter by sector, district and establishment, and select up to the permitted number of course preferences.
  6. Wait for an establishment to shortlist you. Selected candidates receive an offer on the portal and by SMS.
  7. Accept the offer and sign the tripartite contract between the candidate, the establishment and the state government, generated on the portal.
  8. Join the establishment on the notified date and begin marking daily attendance on the MMSKY mobile app.

Candidates without their own device or internet connection can complete the same steps at any MPOnline kiosk. The registration itself is free; a kiosk may charge only the government-notified service fee.

How to check your MMSKY application and stipend status

  1. Sign in to mmsky.mp.gov.in with the user ID and password created at registration.
  2. Open the candidate dashboard to see course preferences, shortlisting status and offers received.
  3. Check the stipend or payment tab for month-wise transfer entries once training has begun.
  4. If a month shows as pending, first check the attendance record for that month in the mobile app.

Why MMSKY applications and payments get rejected

  • Age outside 18 to 29 on the registration date. The portal blocks this automatically.
  • Samagra ID not matching Aadhaar in name or date of birth. Correct the Samagra record first at samagra.gov.in or at a local Samagra centre.
  • Bank account not Aadhaar-seeded, so the state's 75 per cent DBT share cannot land.
  • Certificate uploaded does not match the stipend slab claimed, for example a diploma slab claimed with only a Class 12 marksheet uploaded.
  • Attendance below the seven-hour daily minimum, which holds the stipend for that month rather than cancelling the training.
  • Establishment exceeding its 15 per cent trainee cap, which can stall an otherwise valid offer.

Where to get help with Mukhya Mantri Seekho Kamao Yojana

  • MMSKY helpline: 0755-2525258, 9 am to 6 pm
  • Email: mmsky-mp@mp.gov.in
  • District route: the District Skill Development and Employment Office, or the Government ITI in your district, handles walk-in queries and portal problems.

Grievances about a stipend not paid, an employer not signing the contract, or a wrong stipend slab should first be raised through the grievance option on the candidate dashboard, and escalated to the district skill development office if unresolved. Registration under Mukhya Mantri Seekho Kamao Yojana is free at every stage, and no officer or agent is authorised to charge for a placement.

Frequently asked questions

How much stipend does Mukhya Mantri Seekho Kamao Yojana pay?

Mukhya Mantri Seekho Kamao Yojana pays a monthly stipend between Rs 8,000 and Rs 10,000, decided by the candidate's qualification: Rs 8,000 for Class 12 pass, Rs 8,500 for ITI, Rs 9,000 for a diploma and Rs 10,000 for a graduate or above. The establishment pays 25 per cent and the Madhya Pradesh government transfers the remaining 75 per cent by DBT.

Who is eligible for Mukhya Mantri Seekho Kamao Yojana?

Any resident of Madhya Pradesh aged 18 to 29 years who has passed Class 12, completed an ITI trade, or holds a diploma or degree is eligible. There is no caste, gender or income restriction, and the candidate must not already be in regular salaried employment.

Is Mukhya Mantri Seekho Kamao Yojana the same as Yuva Kaushal Kamai Yojana?

Yes. The programme was first announced as Mukhyamantri Yuva Kaushal Kamai Yojana and was renamed Mukhya Mantri Seekho Kamao Yojana before its formal launch on 15 June 2023. Both names refer to the same scheme, run on the same mmsky.mp.gov.in portal.

How long does the training last?

Training normally runs for one year, though the government order allows course durations from a few months up to one year depending on the trade. The stipend is paid every month for the duration of the training.

Do I get a certificate at the end?

Yes. Candidates who complete the training and meet the attendance requirement receive a certificate from the State Council for Vocational Training (SCVT), which is recognised for employment across Madhya Pradesh.

Is there any fee to register for Seekho Kamao Yojana?

No. Registration on mmsky.mp.gov.in is completely free for both candidates and establishments. No agent can charge for "getting a seat" and no official will ask for your OTP or bank OTP.

Why has my stipend not been credited?

The most common reason is short attendance: candidates must mark at least seven hours of daily attendance through the MMSKY mobile app, and stipend release is held back if attendance is incomplete. A bank account that is not Aadhaar-seeded, or a name mismatch between Aadhaar and the bank record, also stops the DBT transfer.

Can establishments outside Madhya Pradesh take MMSKY trainees?

No. The establishment must be registered and operating in Madhya Pradesh with a valid GST registration. Proprietorships, HUFs, partnerships, companies, trusts and societies can all register, and each may take trainees up to 15 per cent of its total workforce.
